Here's the first run I did. I let off the throttle just a tad early, which is why the mph is low. If you compare the 1000 ft times, they're just about the same.
Thanks for all of the excellent information, it is MUCH appreciated. I'm on the fence and with you getting > 0.6 seconds improvement with a less than optimal SOC, is Very encouraging! Please post to this same thread again when you have a run with nice / high SOC.

To be absolutely sure, you can reach your cell phone behind the rear wheel on the driver's side and take a pic of the plate on your motor. It looks like this:
Theoretically they will perform the same when installed into the AWD non-P due to software control, but the 980 motor is binned and capable of performance power output (along with an inverter change I believe).
There are many opinions on this, but few hard facts. Some say there are more 980 failures, most say the performance of the AWD is set in SW, so the performance is identical, some say the 990 is more efficient (I've seen zero evidence for this one), but I think the bottom line is that it doesn't make any difference. The only notable exception is if you use aftermarket hacks to boost performance; if you go down that route, the 980 is faster.
Took a look behind the wheel and confirmed mine is 990, and my VIN contains an E. My first MY VIN that I rejected at delivery contained an F, and that was super early (March build), and my later VIN that I accepted delivery on was June build, VIN 9xxx.
