Fidelity made available only 105k shares for shorting today at 8:00am, with around 10k added later, as of 9:16, after 111k shares was borrowed, only 4K shares left. Interest steady at 2%.

Seems almost like Fidelity monkeyed with the count of available shares to engineer a tighter squeeze.
Shorting activity between 8 and 9am coincided with the price dip. Perhaps not looking good for shorts now if there is nothing left in the tank.

Usually IB has a defined number of shares available at a set interest rate. This morning, there is not a number of shares available only this "This contract will be available for short sale if the shares can be located."
Looks like no availability to me....

In fairness, I made that statement before the Model 3 news broke.Still early in those 2.5 days, but um...ELEPHANT.
My [email protected] calls are loving this action though.
So it's snowing mad crazy here in the Eastern seaboard and interestingly, my Yahoo Finance feed still has not picked up on the Reuters news about the Model 3 pilot production news. A lot of traders/news contributors might still be stuck in snow or digging themselves out to go to work! How is this related to market action? Maybe there's fuel left today for a midday or late day rally!

Tesla is going to trade progressively higher throughout 2017 and shorts will feel the pain on an exponential basis and the eventual short squeeze will happen when the stock is much much higher than what it is now
