I wonder what ever happened to this release? Seems to have stopped being distributed, at least per TeslaFi. Similarly, advanced summon and faster supercharging updates haven't seen the light of day in any wide spread distribution.

What I've seen so far is light years ahead of what I have now. Remember those cheap RC cars that went forward and turned in reverse? That would even be better than what most of us have now.

"not good enough" doesn't necessarily mean it will get any faster, it could just be that it was doing something like trying to run over people's house pets or kids.

The release seems to be going out for Model S and X, not for Model 3. Perhaps they wanted to throw the older cars a bone before Model 3 got the new stuff?

They will prob gonna roll out another version soon for model 3

My guess would be that there is some Model 3 specific bug in 2019.12 which is why the rollout continues for S and X but not for the 3.

I would guess the AP crew is "all-hands" on internal development and testing, so distributing public builds for testing is on hold. We will probably see a x.16+ build in a few weeks for limited testing. Again, pure speculation.

As expected for a 3rd or 4th level revision. Release notes will change for a 2nd level...2019.8 to 2019.9 for example.

Had 8.5 got an update notice for . . . 8.5 again. So ok.
My guess is that there may be a new update post the autonomy demo on the 22nd.

Lost internet on 8.5 and called Service. Person on the line indicated that they are aware of a few firmware bugs introduced in last update and a new one is coming (though a new one is always coming...) to fix them. Maybe 12 or greater?

My guess is that is what 8.6.1 is supposed to be for. I've lost my network connection on 8.5 a couple of times this week. A screen reboot fixed it each time.

I was also instructed to reboot, which fixed the issue.

Out of all the reasons for Tesla to release firmware on the S/X, your reason would be the last.

Model S “technology show case platform” is less credible than “funding secured” if we had to compare truthfulness of statements.
