New owner here - yay!!...picked up yesterday and still on 2019.27.103 I've been patiently staring at my phone and sitting in the car willing an update to arrive but nowt so far. Do I just have to wait for divine intervention to decide when I get the update? Have tried reboots, the wifi seems a bit buggy and isn't picking up my home network very well.

I think (don’t have my M3 yet) that you can do a long press on the update button and it will force a request for update.

Welcome to the club! I’m sure you’ll love your car.

I’ve tried the trick of pressing the advanced button multiple times but it’s never worked for me yet. It may well be that you need to get the car a good, solid WiFi signal.

Welcome

it doesn’t need Wi-fi to know an update is available (it just needs Wi-fi to download it, usually). The Wi-fi antenna is in one of the wing mirrors, and is quite weak. try parking with one or the other closest to your Wi-fi source.

a small number of cars have been known to be missed off the “update these cars” list, Start with the “chat” button at the bottom of Customer and Product Support | Tesla Support (which looks inactive currently, not sure of their opening hours)

or “schedule service” in the mobile app

Its been debunked. You will have as much success by putting on a tutu and dancing around the car chanting I'm a fairy.

It will happen first when Tesla want it to happen on YOUR car, and second, when your car is in a position to take it.

I would just leave it. An update turns up every few weeks as and when they decide your car is due one but the changes are very much incremental. It's not worth persevering to try to force it. Like many others, my car when new had a version from a couple of months before delivery. It updated after about 2 weeks. Then on average about every 2 weeks since. Only 1 or 2 of those have included more than bug fixes and only-just-noticeable changes.

While it probably will be material change from 2019.27 (pre v10, right?) it'll turn up in no time whether you try to force it or not.

Don't wait.
If you have decent WiFi connection it should update.
If it has not then create a service appointment on the app (use a long date and select software).

Received a text this morning from them, they've pushed an update out manually to the car. I now have 36.2.1 (up from 27.103).

Still not the latest, but close enough for now.

Thanks for the advice.

Edit - Could anyone give me an overview of what have I gained from going from 27.103 to 36.2.1? I know what's in the latest (hold mode, extra 5% etc), but what about the other versions I've skipped over? What new features did I get?

Should be in the release notes. Netflix, caroke, YouTube, games, AP improvements, rear camera sentry mode, window vent,API changes, traffic cones

I think most in UK are still on 36.2.1 (inc me)
