Protecting a Model Y from a really hard life

Because of her rather specific use case it's not quite these normal high wear points she hits. They are more the upward facing surfaces, while at the sill she will hit the vertical outward facing ones, maybe even slightly downward facing as the chair frame protrudes slightly under. I think what...

Protecting a Model Y from a really hard life

Interesting idea. I can see a product linked to here Screen Bumper But it's a US seller. Big postage cost. Yet to find a UK seller of a similar product. On screen protectors, what are regarded as being good ones?

Protecting a Model Y from a really hard life

My sister's Model Y is incoming, which is exciting. Her use of cars is a little unusual. She is a wheelchair user. A very able and independent one. That means transferring from chair to car followed by taking the wheels off the chair, passing them and then the chair itself over her lap onto the...

    Model S dog crate

Ah ha - Thanks! Hope life is good with you! I think I'll get one of these guards. With our current dog, because she grew up with a guard like this, she just knows that the boot is her place, to the point she feels a bit weird if asked to sit in any forward compartment. And I think safety-wise...

    Model S dog crate

Hi Folks, Not been on here for ages. Hope you're all well. We've had our Model S for nearly 3 years now. Big dog (Flatcoated Retriever) happy in the boot with no apparatus required, or wherever else she's asked to sit. However she was trained up to it in a previous car (Mondeo with a OEM guard...

Installing 2021.4.3 here. UK Model S. Here's hoping it includes the above 20 legged cat-horse visualisation. Can't move for the buggers in Devon.

[UK poll] If you own FSD and Tesla offered the option to downgrade

Whoa. Back up, back up! There's improved farting? Why didn't I know about this? [considers rushing outside in -5°c to check, but thinks better of it]

    EAP [enhanced autopilot] is back

This for me too. If I was buying a car today I probably would pay the £3400 for lane change. It's personal. It'd be expensive for what it is, of course, but I like it, my use case suits it, and I would expect to have the car for 100k miles. So I would make that extravagant purchase. And there...

    EAP [enhanced autopilot] is back

For me, auto lane change I do use a fair bit, but I drive a lot on motorways at less busy times. You should look up how European regs define the time periods within a manoeuvre, which make the process unnaturally slow, so it's basically unusable in any traffic for that reason. Plus there's the...

    EAP [enhanced autopilot] is back

I think it's a miniscule minority of people for whom summon will do that with any consistency in the UK. I'm another who's tried it on and off over 18 months and only rarely got it to work. However it does seem to be fundamentally a software/regulation issue, because it genuinely seems to work...

    Next release speculation and wishes

Customisable screen would surely be easy enough to implement, although I have a Model S so the recent UI update doesn't create the issue it does in the 3. I would like them to give us some parameters to play with on wipers until they can sort it out themselves. Mine does basically nothing in...

    Teslafi climate presets

I just clocked this, which I presume is new, and was tempted to use it to schedule the car to return periodically to auto and 21 degrees for climate in case someone (well, I know who, but hey ho) has been fannying around with it again. But it only seems to do HVAC temperature and seat/wheel...

    Model S refresh!

If they can get self-driving to work in the dark rainy trafficky UK winter without their systems coping with it for some basic auto wiper function and the cameras returning an image, I'd be surprised.

    Model S refresh!

Although it's keeping to a theme so doesn't appear a radical rethink, I really like the look of the new interior in the main. If as suggested it's also better put together and quieter it may feel quite a bit more "premium" than the current S. Plus I was always a bit disappointed I couldn't have...

[UK] Premium Connectivity Progress - pre mid July 2019 orders

I raised the issue in early August, roundabout the first anniversary of my delivery. I also ordered May. Mine is a Model S but I think the same applies. Anyway, they pretty firmly rebuffed my communication on the subject. Which was via a service request on the app. So I'll be interested to see...

Teslafi shows capacity leapt back up to original range

Ah ha. Thanks. Turns out my 2020.24 was so short-lived it gave no teslafi range datapoints, so could still be either update. I guess this is the range increase update I got then, for which c.12 miles additional range sounds about right. Not clear to me what they changed though to achieve that...

Teslafi shows capacity leapt back up to original range

No I don't think I've changed anything at all. Rarely use sentry mode but it is still set to turn on when parked away from set locations. Interesting. For me though the graph has been pretty consistent except for this and if it is somewhere near right at towards 4% down after only 20k I think...

Teslafi shows capacity leapt back up to original range

Looking at my teslafi battery degradation report, it shows a sudden jump back up to original range. It looks like this happened round about update 2020.24 or 2020.28 in early July. Is this a common observation? Is it an improvement in car efficiency improving Wh/mile, no change in reality...

    Premium Connectivity!

I also bought a Model S new about the same time. Ordered May 19, delivered early August. I'm also in the uk. I got the email this morning notifying me that my premium connectivity has expired. I don't think I have documentary evidence that my car had premium connectivity for life but we would...

    Odd sleep behaviour

Ah ha. ABRP is a possibility. Change could've happened when that moved to an app? I will have a look at ABRP settings and/or disable mobile access and re-enable just for teslafi. This is what mine is doing:

    Odd sleep behaviour

My car is going to sleep then waking up after exactly 10 minutes. Been doing it some weeks now I think. Occasionally sleeps for longer but not often. The regularity of it smacks of me getting a teslafi setting wrong but looking at the settings I can't see anything that would obviously do this...

Buying advice - New 3 or Used S

If there's a big European hub with which Aberdeen does have a reliable daily link, maybe there's a halfway house solution with a long tesla drive to that? If your journey normally takes 2 flights then flight carbon emissions would probably easily halve by moving to one bigger more popular...

    A referral!

Someone ordered a car in March and used my referral code. I can't tell who it is, it just names a leasing company, but it must've come from here because I don't recall giving my code to anyone except for leaving it in my profile on here. Weirdly, it's through VW Financial Services. Anyway...

Advice needed for 3 phase charging

I get the same. I figured this is the 16.5kw, just that we have less voltage drop to the charge point, right? Anyway, I charge in two locations. One on this and the other on single phase 32a commando. In a house I expect to own long term I'd pay a fair bit for the combined privilege of faster...

    2020.12.5 Rolling

Just installing 12.5 here. Phantom corrective steering I often had on the previous buggy version has bugged (pardon the pun) the hell out of me. So although the dash cam viewer is a welcome (but surely overdue?) addition, I'm still mainly hoping for a bug free update... Self isolating with a...

New M3 owner - Autopilot disappointment

These issues are very regular occurances in the winter. Add a bit of rain or spray on the road and the side cameras really struggle. Wet cold much worse than dry cold, so perhaps UK conditions are tough. Supposedly some improvement will come through software updates but I'm skeptical; hard to...

New M3 owner - Autopilot disappointment

I may also be guilty of letting tesla get away with idiosyncrasies and I fully agree with the annoyance of unnecessary speed changes in TACC, but most people develop a habit of hovering their foot over the accelerator to override briefly in these situations. It works OK as a stop-gap. RE the...

    Not achieving full supercharger potential

Even taking into account that charging power varies a lot with SoC and battery temperature, I'd still think the charging power you experienced was low. It's not like you plugged in at 70%. Every now and again I get a slower than expected charge though and I think there could be other reasons, so...

    Wipers

While the auto wiper function isn't the best, for me it's gone from being poor enough to need an override very often to good enough to be left alone nearly all the time. I'd like to see it improve quite a lot more but I think now it's not the safety issue it was. On a related note, what wiper...

    Granny charger adapter/3 pin plug

Charging warms the battery, or the car warms the battery for safe charging. However for very low power charging, not so much, so with 3 pin, late charging has very little effect.

Americans don't reverse? 'Into the void!' .

This is perhaps the thing that bugs me the most about the car. I do also think the reversing lights themselves are worse than other cars but if replacing the camera solved the problem then that would be fine. Maybe we should raise a few (a lot?) of service requests for this point?

    Big car....

It's a big car but not unusually so. My previous car was a mondeo which is about the same size. We also have a VW Transporter, similar width (and probably length too) again. I doubt you'd find an area of the country where you're more affected by narrow lanes than here in Devon. A smaller car...

There's also teslafi, for which you get an extended trial (a month?) and the referrer gets a fiver off next year's sub. Teslafi is a data logging and scheduling service. Tesla S 7 Seater v Range Rover Sport!

I'd find this kind of thing kind of funny if it wasn't downright damaging. The PHEV concept works, arguably, for the scenario Toyota claim, ie that they can produce and sell lots of cheap cars which will do the vast majority of their miles on battery, and "once in a blue moon" a longer journey...

Tesla S 7 Seater v Range Rover Sport!

This! (not on the not taking you seriously, more on the horses for courses thing) One of the points to consider is that regardless of how it's powered, an SUV will use X% more energy than a normal format car of the same space/performance/whatever. (That X% is not small, like 20% or so but I...
