2019 deliveries get free AP/FSD upgrade, 2018 deliveries get nothing

Why did you accept your car in a configuration different from what you've ordered?

Because I was told, by my delivery specialist, it would be taken care of at delivery by the staff at Tesla center for a refund, which was 300 miles away (They also failed to give me home delivery like they promised). When I got there I was told there was nothing they could do and I should raise the issue with support later. I never did, but I might now.

I though it might be true as I heard stories of others getting the wheels for free, but they wouldnt budge at the center.

At least you were only 300 miles away. I had to drive 450 miles home after flying into nyc to take an hour Uber ride to the service center to wait 5 hours to get the paperwork finalized and to see my car. What a garbage experience to spend 70k.. Then all this unfolds. My car with 1400 miles on it is for sale

I assume if you have e-mail correspondence with your DS, you may actually get something. A promise is a promise.

Oh yeah? Well I had to actually take my credit card out of my wallet at the grocery store today because their NFC reader was inoperable. TOP THAT

As someone who took delivery in 2018 I have no problem with not getting EAP upgraded to FSD for free.

Obviously the tax credit being cut played a big part in pricing changes. We're getting closer to that 6 month mark where it gets cut in half again.

The economy is also slowing so I think Tesla has to respond to new customers more than trying to keep old customers happy.

My main concern is that Tesla keeps FSD something that Model 3 owners can easily upgrade to for either $3K or $3.5K.

A new buyer has to pay $8K for AP+FSD so it makes sense that someone who bought before than would also pay $8K.

This is why I'm done with tesla. They bait in as many new customers as possible with no love to the past buyers. I'm glad I cancelled my M3 reservation and ended up with the white interior in the end. But I'll never make this mistake again

Easy solution here...

Offer a new “Enhanced acceleration” option for $3000 that reduces 0-60 times on all models. Then make it free to customers who took delivery before January 1.

don't even joke. I'd have to immediately do something to get banned from here and reddit just to escape the screaming of the entitled children that would follow.

If they’re noting giving 2018 buyers AP for free, we should at least get it for $3k instead of the $4k after-purchase price, since we didn’t have the ability to order for that price at purchase time.

This is the first time I feel like Tesla has screwed me. I guess it happens to all of us eventually...

i personally just never understand why Tesla doesn't give more thoughts before doing any huge price cuts or feature changes. It has always been a fiasco every time they did it in the last 5 years. Why couldn't Tesla learn to be smarter?

I'm assuming you took delivery in 2018.

If so you got an additional $3750 tax credit.

Now you might be upset that someone who purchased took delivery in Jan is now going to get AP if they don't have anything or FSD if they have EAP. But, we don't know the official status of 2018 owners. Elon tweeted that Tesla would clarify the situation later that day, but I haven't seen that clarification.

So I'd hold off on jumping to any conclusions for now.

It is a function of their ability to make fast decisions as a company. EM does all decisions, so it is basically a single person. Either that, or you get 7-10 car product cycle with mid-life refresh with a a very high level of predictability. Can it be something in the middle? Maybe, a little. People tend to go to extremes.

What I find frustrating is how much it changes.

Obviously EV's are going to be priced as a function of the battery cost, and those go down. So you can't buy an EV, and have any kind of reasonable expectation that the price of a new one won't go down.

Especially with a Tesla when there wasn't any competition, and now competition is starting to emerge.

Even so Tesla changes so fast, and so aggressively that it feels like things are being priced like airline tickets. Where two people sitting next to each other paid wildly different prices.
