2020.16.2.1 killed my LTE connection

Thanks for the suggestion. I just added that request to my appointment request... To reload the current software. Not sure if they'll review that soon or wait until the night before my appointment in 3 weeks...

Also, for the power down, I had someone on Tesla chat telling me how to do it. I'm not in my car now, but I think she had me go into the Safety/Security menu, then press Power Off. Then she told me to stay in the driver's seat and not touch anything or move for 3 minutes. So I set a timer. After 3 minutes, she told me to touch the brake to power up the car.
I hear it's easier to do by getting in the rear seat and leaning forward to use the screen, then exit the vehicle but do not close the door.

Alternatively - and I really think you shouldn't have to do this, but you could perform a hard reset. Tesla Model 3 Hard Reset | Mountain Pass Performance
If you follow their instructions, I would add - after the 4th step, use the screen to do a shut down. Let that finish before you continue with the procedure.

Just got off the phone with tech support. Ran through some troubleshooting procedures (which did not resolve the problem) and then the support rep escalated the issue. He was informed that this is a known issue and that a fix is being worked on. No ETA on when it might be available.

After my 2020.16.2.1 upgrade, I no longer have LTE. I've done multiple resets (even with the potentially debunked brake pedal just in case). Also have done a manual power cycle. It's been going on about a week, so time didn't fix it.

What are your car specs (year, HW2.5/3, ?FSD)? Do we know if certain car configurations are affected?

I have the update pending, but hesitant to install. If it is a known issue that affects specific configurations, I would like to assume they would pull the update on those cars?

Mine is March 2018, was HW2.5, but upgraded to HW3. EAP and FSD. 19 inch wheels

Both my 2014 MS and 2018 M3 do the same thing. No problems when out on LTE but when asleep on WiFi (in my garage no/poor LTE with the door closed the car will not wake up. I even put WiFi extender in the garage but doesn’t help with anything except downloading updates.

I updated yesterday - but drove today - not long though. I noticed that I would get the no signal icon (grayed out bars with line through them occasionally). It happens in low reception areas. I think the LTE is not as not as sensitive as before the update. That's all I can figure. Probably Monday or so we'll get another update fixing the problem.

I had this issue with LTE connectivity disappearing with one of the previous updates. It was gone for a few days and then I tried to make a wifi hotspot from my mobile phone to get at least in car navigation working and connected to this hotspot while driving on a highway. After finishing this trip, I realized that the LTE connection reappeared. It looked like some software bug which was overriden by using wifi connectivity while driving. You can try, if it helps...

I am also having the same LTE issue as others. we have two M3’s, my wife’s car (2018, LR, FSD, HW2.5->3 upgraded) did NOT have a problem with the 2020.16.2.1 update. My (2018, P3+, FSD, HW2.5->3 updated) Lost LTE connectivity.
I have tried all of the standard resets, restarts, etc. Finally created a Mobile Service request that was scheduled to occur last Friday (yesterday 5/29) but received a Text message from Tesla asking to reschedule to June 9, as they need to order parts, so I am still in a holding pattern.
Also, I have tried connecting to a hot spot while driving to get Nav /Traffic working (which it does) however LTE is still not operable. (LTE icon showing the slash through it)

Perhaps your LTE connectivity board has finally met its demise. If so, the wait for a replacement is long but the actual swap is quick (even if mobile service or SC will lead you to believe otherwise).

Good thing the design is such that its simply a daughter board off your MCU. PnP swap and done.

wonder if that's happening with my wifi hotspot keeps dropping back to LTE (standard access) I will try another phone 1st

On other threads, people have reported LTE issues, it was intermittent and came back after a short period of time -- and it wasn't necessarily right after an update. So I haven't found anyone else with a solution.

Wifi still works.

Any other ideas?

I have a Tesla mobile visit scheduled for next month for them to check it out. Does anyone have anything for me to try in the meantime?

I have the exact same scenario. One of the first 30K vins. Premium connectivity for the vehicle.

many many resets. Nothing.
Wifi works great though.

Sounds like another bricked LTE connectivity board daughtercard.

Stop by an SC or have Mobile Service come out, let them run some service connector diagnostics and order a new LTE board for you.

Once it arrives, if the tech has previous experience swapping one, its a 15 min job, and doesnt require as much surgery as cabin filter replacement.

If they are doing it the first time, might take them an hour and they will dig around behind the glovebox, center console etc
