Took delivery couple days ago and just notice the paint job in the trunk area. What do you guys think? Should I ask them to repaint the whole piece? I didn’t get a chance to compare other model 3, what do yours look like?

Umm, I wouldn’t complain if it’s not visible when the trunk is closed.
But give a service center a call if it really bothers you. Tesla will take care of you.
I had 3 dings on my front passenger side door and they took it to a body shop to get it repaired.

Yours look exactly like mine. It got repainted and no more cracks. However be prepared to be without your car for a week or two. I also heard they're waitlisting people for paint corrections now so schedule an appointment and be prepare to wait

I'd probably ask them to fix it.... it is after all a brand new $50K+ car but be aware of what you're asking for. Taking the car to a body shop is opening an entirely new can of worms as far as other things that can happen in the process of getting it fixed.

What week/VIN is the car? Elon has commented that paint is one of their bottlenecks, if your car is a recent one then perhaps they have been trying shortcuts to speed up paint production.

VIN is in the 8xxxx range, made in Aug. Aside from the trunk there are a few spots where the paint job looks pretty bad, but they are inside the door, won't see it when it's closed. I will probably ask them to take a look, but would be suck without the car for a while. So most of you guys don't have similar issue and that part look silky smooth?

To me that doesn't looks like a bad paint job. That looks like paint over the bonding paste agents they use in that part to seal gaps. Either they applied that paste in a sloppy fashion or is just how they do it on all M3s. Since its on both sides I would guess they see that as normal. I agree that is not nice but that's part of the sub par build refinement that Tesla is known for. Service could file that down and then paint over it through to satisfy you. They should have done that at the assembly line.

Good Grief, this is not a paint issue... just a bit of seam sealer that is applied with a brush and then painted.
The lack of basic automotive knowledge is starting to show on this forum with the advent of the Model 3.

Tesla offers loaner car while they keep your car for repairs. My friend dropped his car yesterday for another issue and got S as a loaner.
