I'm 100% that guy, and, usually only bought used cars! Never traded in or sold a car, and have only bought two new cars in my life. And the first one didn't really count; we were living in Germany and could buy a BMW cheaply through the military buying service, so we did for our 20th anniversary. And we still have that car. And the second one was only 3 years ago.I am traditionally a Buy a car and then tow out the corpse 10-15 years later . With these EV's I am not really sure what to expect long term. I do expect the values of the Y to plummit once they rid themselves of the backlog.
But I'm 65 so when I buy the next level Y in a year or so I'm probably done buying cars. But I also don't want to wait a year and a half, so I'll get this at my $53K price, drive it a year or so, and probably get $50K back then and buy the 'final' one. So I'm not going to drag it out waiting for a chip or a pane of glass. I'll get it, love it, and in a year or so move on to something a level of magnitude better than anything we'll get now, chip or no chip.
