Shady 3 phase charging at Katherine Showgrounds. Normally we have little success with council operated showgrounds, but not this one! Within 15 minutes of me arriving at the council front desk, the helpful lady had organised approval with the CEO, a pricing policy had been established ($4/hour), payment taken and access organised!

H Richard, making nice progress, soon you can make some pictures of the Tesla in the Bungle Bungle nature setting.
Lol, I remember that border crossing where they reminded us to eat those apples and oranges before crossing the border ;)
Yes that border crossing! We spent half an hour eating all the oranges and mandarins we could digest!

As for the Bungles, Tessie was 100% confident on her abilities on the Bungles road signed "High clearance 4WD's only". She pointed out that she has 4 driving wheels and not only can her suspension go to "High", it can go to "Very High"!

However we did opt for the scenic flight in lieu ...

Now here is something REALLY amazing and heroic ...

20160829_094850.jpg

Falk is touring on his bamboo framed bike. He has just done the Canning Stock Route and is heading west to Fitzroy, then north then across the roughest road east and straight down through the Tanami desert to Alice!

He starts with 32kg of food and 32L of water!

Follow him here ...
anniestrada.bike
(you may need Google Translate).

He quite likes Teslas too!

Still raining. I'd better get Tessie out soon!

Is that Fitzroy Crossing??? If your not sure check to see if there's Beer cans floating down the Main Street.
Fitzroy and Halls Creek average 1 millimetre of rain in August, Fitzroy Crossing registered 31mm in the past 24 hours, Tessie has brought the rain across.
Great photo though, one for the archives.

Looks like this photo will not be repeated!

Did they have 3 phase? Looks like it goes to the pole in the background.

No word yet from Richard, I hope he wasn't forced to cross with his Tessie in submarine mode...leave that to the Russians who specialize in swimming Teslas.
Definitely Richard, great pictures again!
I'm sure that the flight over Bungles Bungles was a great experience, all be it slightly noisier than your drives and touring in Tessie.

Actually quite complex getting landscape rocks removed for Tessie to effect a dignified and dry exit via a side gate to a closed road!

No but they will have 3 phase! I gave an AVEA outlet to Dave the manager. Quite a Tesla-suitable property with an upmarket lodge and restaurant.

OK now at Broome we are staying right near a Telstra tower so I can again upload madly regardless of quality ...

A bloody well deserved drink Richard!!!
The pictures "Crossing over the Mary River", "Tessie at the boabab boulevard" and "Another Ocean for Tessie" are really superb!
I presume you must have got a lot of questions playing around on the beach there and also at the Derby Caravan Park?
How many people did you evangelize and convert?
Did you get in contact with some local news media there? Absolutely worth it!

The big news (for us anyway) is that here at Broome is the halfway point!

Thanks for the beach info @Blue heaven .

Sitting here in the cold South, I should be insanely jealously you're parked on "my" beach having a cold drink watching a Broome sunset, but not at all, it's so good to see Tessie in such a great setting, and to cap it off 4000km from the nearest Supercharger.
It's got me thinking Blue is the best colour car to park on Cable beach, but then I could be wrong, maybe Red would be better, anyone with a Red car want to test out the theory? Technopile is testing out White in October.

Glad you got out of fitzroy safely. Pictures are fabulous, how wonderful to have 2 Teslas in Broome in such rapid succession. Go Blue!
Richard, updated my sister on your progress, she was astounded and said but those roads are unsealed and pretty awful you need a 4wd. I said it is an Awd with adaptable air suspension. Too funny
