Thanks for your kind comments guys. We're still getting an average of one mad keen Tesla follower per day (a shareholder yesterday) plus a handful of casually interested people who are open to seeing things differently, plus (very rarely but also yesterday at 90 Mile Beach) the occasional guy who just says "impractical". I think @Blue heaven you know who this guy is!

Watch out. Every now and then you need a 20 amp 3 phase plug.

Yes, I would say the gentleman at 80 mile beach is not a fan of electric vehicles (yet!) his best mate is the owner who fortunately appeared to be supportive of the long term benefits.
It looks as if Whim creek has placed the new 5 pin outlet in a handy location, this is a business that will benefit greatly from EVs in the long term as at this time more than 99% of travellers drive straight past without even knowing what's there, and of course having a photo of an electric car in front of the Whim Creek pub is a dagger in the heart to many of the EV naysayers.

Tessie is in exactly the same spot for the 2 shots above. Just different camera angles.

Nanutarra Roadhouse - Tessie's home for the next 3 nights while she waits for @Blue heaven 's UMC which he very kindly packed and air freighted up to Carnarvon for us (more on that a bit later).

John gets on the bus for the lovely 8 hour journey to the airport. Back tomorrow with the UMC (I hope).

At least Tessie is in the shade.

I wait and amuse myself randomly.

Did win a chess game with the Argentinian fellow who works here. Rematch tonite! Staff morale and teamwork is great for a place so far from anywhere.

Importantly, this windmill has a large Euro currency symbol cast into its concrete base.

A few bits of road train info from a fellow who is waiting here for his next load ...
  • He gets 1.6km / litre.
  • His rig weighs 200 tonnes fully loaded.
  • His last 2 trailers (out of 4) are coupled in piggy back b-double style to keep within the length limit, which is fairly common.

Hi Richard McN a few questions. . .
Was there a re-match of the chess game, did the bus return from the airport, any interesting traveler info, or photos?
Seems you've got a good following, and piqued more interest in outback travel in a Tesla, notwithstanding Blue Heavan's epic pioneering adventure to Broome, and MDK's awesome effort to Brissy and back.
Congrats on making it halfway around the continent.
Looking forward to catching up in Melbourne.

Good question indeed @Novatec
Strangely enough the fellow "couldn't find" me (in the 15m x 15m camping area) for the rematch:confused:!

did the bus return from the airport
Yes John did return - hooray:):)! Tessie enjoys a drink, mainy due to @Blue heaven 's persistence and determination in getting the parcel onto the passenger flight despite the airline's office being closed for the weekend, and finding someone in Carnarvon "Bluey" willing to collect and hold the parcel for John who arrived well after the airport closed!

Actually this is the first time I have used the UMC / Euro tail / 3ph adapter method. Sure it's limited to 16A (50 km/h) but it is SO simple. Not a single button to press. Just stick one end into the outlet and the other into the car and it starts by itself. If you give it a go in Coffs, @Homer you won't look back!

any interesting traveler info, or photos?
Well since you asked, I do have a shot or two. Still amazing to me how much interesting stuff there is ...

I feel like I am standing on the shoulders of giants here, but good if it does mean a few more EV's get seen in the bush!

Looking forward to catching up in Melbourne.
Yes will be great, especially since @alpal is shouting!

Tessie is really looking forward to seeing Nova-00 again after all the time they spent together in the factory and on the boat!

Did you come across any suitable charging locations between Maryborough and Rockhampton; that looks the biggest challenge for me to get to Port Douglas, if I am able to charge at the same locations you have on your way north in Queensland?
It's 383 km between Maryborough and Rockhampton so no charge needed for us in a 90 driving carefully. What model do you have? We stayed at a caravan park in Gladstone and picked some up at 15A, but that was dictated by nightfall not charge.

Check with Peter Nelson that this HPWC's at Rocky and Mackay are working well first.

Ok, thanks Richard. P85D
Just planning ahead, it may be sometime before that adventure begins for me.
