FWIW, the premium connectivity 1-year change happened last summer, was specifically noted at the time as applying to S/X, and has been explained as such in the FAQ ever since. I do agree that they could have been clearer on the order page.

Mobile hotspot = part of my phone, included with service.
If Tesla is limiting services on the client end and putting it on wifi doesn't help, that's pretty crappy on their part.
Well you providing data service doesn't cover the costs of the Slacker streaming service or any licensing costs for the traffic data and satellite maps...

It is more that the services do not anticipate having access to a third party LTE service. I am sure they could code it but would have to work out that option. And would it be worth it based on the number of customers who may elect to take advantage of it? Not everyone's phone service comes with a free hotpspot service.
Are you sure yours doesn't? Seems like most carriers in the US do this now. It wasn't even an option to select. For AT&T it just uses data out of your regular monthly limit.

Sure my phone might be capable, but my plan is not. So no I don't have a mobile hotspot.
Ok, i should have clarified (grin) if your mobile SLA allows it - which mine from AT&T does not without a significant contract mod and price increases.
That not withstanding - I am looking at a dedicated hotspot for the car.
drop 100k on a vehicle and then try to skirt the $8/month to keep premium connectivity haha

That should be good news for people like myself that ordered the carbon off menu, and were worried that they might not have enough to fill the orders. There should be no extra charge now for it as well. Now just get me my dam car lol.
Yeah it's ridiculous, just like how free supercharging sells cars. Fully actualized cost of my trade-in will be north of $4 per mile. If I really tried harder could have gotten it down to nearly $2.

Did you get a monroney sticker with real EPA numbers, or estimates? Tesla has adjusted this with firmware after delivery.
