Drove from Sydney to Southern Highlands this morning and saw 2 car carriers full of Model Y and possibly Model 3. One was on the Southern Cross Drive on its way to Alexandria and the second was grinding up the hill near Alpine on the Hume Motorway, probably going to Canberra.
So they are out there. 😎🤞🏽
I want to be hopeful. But has ever VIN allocation happened while the car was in Country and being transported via highway?

(Other than cancellations of course)

No, I didn't receive a VIN or invoice. Just got the notification re updated terms (no radar, etc) and the narrower delivery window. I am actually not in a huge hurry because I am waiting for the FBT EV legislation to pass first so I can get a tax-free lease. The legislation might be passed as soon as tomorrow though, in which case I will be more eager!

Another aspect is that the Victorian ZEV subsidy will expire on 16 December. Does anyone know what happens if we don't have our vehicles by then? Can it be extended again? Or will Tesla apply for a new subsidy for us?
I believe that once you place your order the Victorian ZEV subsidy is applied. I don't think it matters when the car arrives but i could be wrong

The Victorian subsidy is valid for a 6-month period from the date of the initial contract. My 6 month point is due in a couple of days and I recently received this update from Solar Victoria:

'We’re writing to let you know that we are extending your Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) Subsidy application by 120 days to extend your opportunity to receive a subsidy.
The ZEV Subsidy Program requires that motor car traders deliver vehicles to customers within 6 months of the contract of sale. While the majority of customers are receiving their vehicles within this period, global supply chain issues are delaying some car delivery timelines beyond 6 months.
The expiry date for your subsidy application is now
21 February 2023.'

Based on the current deliveries I'm hoping to get my car before the 21-Feb so it does qualify for the subsidy - it will be a right pain in the butt if I don't. :(

I wish Queensland didn't screw us over and deliberately set the rebate price cap just below the list price of the Tesla. That $3k sure would have helped soften the blow of waiting so long, especially since so many Teslas are being sold. I think their value is going to drop rapidly as the battery tech keeps improving and so many more of them are in the market.

We probably pay it back in the VIC km based BEV fee. Pretty happy with the price I locked in at the time for the car it was just before it went up. Paying way less than what it costs currently overseas after conversion

Hi guys, first-time poster. I was forced out of my shell seeing the barrage of Melbourne VINs that rained down yesterday without getting one for myself. I ordered online (with no SA involved) on 16th March. Since then I have modified the design up to four times - changing the paint color from red to white and vice versa. My last change (red exterior to white) was less than a week ago which set my order date back to 20/10/2022 as per my updated order agreement.

Two questions:
  • Which order date do you think Tesla might be working with here? 16/03 (my first order date) or 20/10 (the date of my last design changes)?
  • How do you think making design changes affects wait time generally?
Current design: M3, RWD, white paint, black interior

BTW, I have a novated lease quote with $93.94/fortnight fleet insurance. Is this a reasonable price? I have the option of bringing my own insurance company. Can someone point me to a few insurance companies I could talk to?
My understanding is that changing your order could put you back at the end of the queue - but I could be wrong, I hope so for your sake :)
