I'm scheduled to take delivery this weekend - AWD/Red/White Interior/Sport Wheels. Was told it's a new November build w/ VIN 122xxx. I have previously rejected a September build w/ VIN 97xxx.

Does anybody here have evidence on whether Tesla has improved paint quality over the past 2 months? Just trying to manage my expectations.

Purely anecdotal, mine just delivered a little over a week ago has VIN 94,XXX, is an October build, and as far as I see, perfect paint. I did not get a microscope out to examine it. I did not run my fingers over every surface. The parts inside the doors/door wells are fully painted up. My naked eye appreciation is that it's quite excellent.

I'm thinking about doing the ceramic coating process and will be interested to see what 'paint correction' is required. I don't even see any swirls. Perhaps they are there, but not enough to appreciate them. That said, I think I read some of the red ones had rougher paint jobs. Flip side, there's been time to tune the process. Look carefully, but I'd be feeling good with an 11/2018 build.

Totally shocked this morning -

Ordered LR AWD MSM/White19" EAP at 1:12am today
Received an email at 8:53am with VIN 116xxx and delivery on 11/6
VIN also showed up in my account
There was no communication nor contract in my account, so I called the delivery center around noon of my scheduled delivery date 11/6, they told me the delivery would happen. I showed up at the 5:45pm appointment in Fremont, everyone was courteous, but I had to wait over half an hour, by the time of the delivery it was so dark outside in the parking lot. It was impossible to do a decent inspection of the car, but the delivery specialist who was from another part of the company just to help out delivery part-time was nice, so I took a chance to take the car home. I enjoyed the drive home, stopped by a supercharger to top it off to 90% (had 160 miles when I picked it up). The following day I did a more thorough inspection at home and noticed panel mis-alignment, paint areas with rough touch-up work, and a scrape damage to a long plastic part under a door, a large piece of white leather sticked out from the back seats, and sticky glue on the steering wheel and other areas. I will take the car into a SC to report the issues I discovered and hope Tesla will repair them promptly. Overall I am happy with the driving characteristic of the car, the delivery people were very nice, but handling the delivery in a dark parking lot with little street lighting was very unpleasant, I can't think of ever taking delivery of a new car in such setting, and the fit and finish is still not quite on par to the comparably priced cars. They really need to do QA better.

Ok, this is getting me worried. I was hopeful that Tesla has improved their paint quality since i last rejected delivery in September. VIN 112xxx is a fairly new VIN (Oct production). I’m scheduled to for delivery of VIN 122xxx with a Nov production date and hope I won’t have to reject again.

Got my Model 3 yesterday, Dual motor, long range, white interior/Blue exterior.
Ordered 9/30/2018, reconfigured (just to reflect price changes) 10/19. Delivery initially scheduled 11/10/2018 when moved to 11/08.
Alignment of the panels are not too bad, but far from perfect.
Weather strip around trunk strip was misaligned, they tried to fix it, but it did not work very well.

Why not just accept delivery and then make them fix it? Not trying to be snarky... serious question. I'm due for delivery soon, so wondering what the right approach is.

After going back and forth with potential home delivery, Hector recommended Mt Kisco because he admitted home delivery was really delayed, like weeks in New England. My order date was 10/12, confirmed appointment for delivery now on 11/20 in NY, vin is 121...

I spent 30+ minutes inspecting every panel and placed a sticky by every paint defect. They brought the car to the detailer to see what they can do, and then they suggest doing a VIN rematch because the defects can’t be corrected with detailing.

I’m willing to accept a car with paint defects that can be corrected with detailing, but not defects that will require a repaint. Repainted panels can be detected with paint meters, so they will result in reduced resale values.

have to say, Hector's been coming through for me this week. We had a bunch of emails yesterday, and I emailed him this morning asking him to call me to discuss details, just got a call and we went over everything, he sent me the NY State tax exemption forms and I filled out and returned right away, he just emailed me again that this stuff is now uploaded to my account already and the purchase order will show up on my account shortly. He sounded really relieved actually not to have to do another home delivery.....sounds like they lose some control with that, and it requires way more paperwork.

Took delivery this morning!

Ordered 9/30
Original appt 11/13 but moved to 11/10

118XXX VIN
LR AWD (no badge for those interested)
Black/Black
EAP
Aeros

Arrived 10:40 for an 11AM appointment at Springfield NJ. They were busy but it did not look crazy. Paperwork took 5 minutes and then it was just waiting for them to prep the car which took about an hour. I was getting a little nervous when he kept telling me it "is still in the wash" every 15 minutes.

When we got to the car my untrained eyes went over the whole thing and nothing stuck out to me at all. I am sure more skilled eyes may find something but I did not and I am happy. They stuck with me until I had no more questions and then I was on my way. I cannot complain one bit about pickup day. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Just got the text this morning that my delivery date is 11/29 in Nashville! Ordered 11/4: LR AWD, black/black, aero, 18". Just need to sort out the trade-in and financing. No VIN assigned yet that I can see. This is probably going to be the longest 19 days of my life!

Exact config as mine, I'm east coast and have delivery date of 12/7, I had to call and ask for my VIN for insurance and financing since it wasn't showing up.

I had a great experience from start to finish. I ordered on 10/22 and made a change on 10/24. I was contacted on 10/29 with a scheduled delivery date of 11/13. Follow ups were timely when I had questions for my IDA. I spoke with my delivery center on 11/7 and my car was ready for me to pick up that night. Unfortunately my wife was out of town so we waited until today. Love the car so far. I'm coming from a 2018 GMC Sierra so it's quite the change for me. I am located Indiana so I was expecting mid December at the earliest and my expectations were far exceeded. The car was flawless as well. No issues with paint or panel gaps. I was also told I was the 10th person in the state to get the Dual Motor badge which is cool.

LR AWD, Black Interior, Pearl White, Sport Wheels

I have a scheduled delivery for this upcoming Friday 11/16. Although, I haven’t heard back from my Delivery Advisor since the initial email and I haven’t been able to get through to customer service. Hour and Fifteen minute hold and still couldn’t get through to anyone.

VIN assigned but still waiting on final contract and payment info. Should I still be hopeful delivery this Friday is going to happen....?

I never received my MVPA online. The delivery center said we would just sign it there when we take delivery. We did that all this morning and it took all of 15 minutes.

I’m supposed to be getting home delivery... If it’s easier to pickup at a delivery center I’d much rather do that. It’s not too far from me either. Wish my IDA or anyone at Tesla would get back to me.
