Didn't realize they had Dual Motor badging. Not sure I want it on mine, guess we'll see.

I work by the local delivery center and the morning of the day prior to taking delivery on my way to work I just happened to see on the road the Model 3 that would end up being mine (I know this because at delivery I asked how many in that color combo had been delivered the day before or were being delivered that day or next).

The car was being driven by their service person from their overflow warehouse to the delivery center which is about a mile away from each other. So cool to see it on the road the day before taking delivery knowing that has to be my Model 3! It’s a red/white interior combination (seats still had clear plastic covers) and I was able to note that there was no “Dual Motor” badge affixed. Sweet! I was planning on debadging it anyway. I show up the next morning and the badge had been put on. Although I love the clean look of a debadged car the look w the badge on has grown on me.

My AWD came with no 'Dual Motor' and we plan on refusing it if they ever call to add it. Stealth is good.. :D

On another topic, I'm getting my insurance company telling me I have a Performance model. According to Teslarati, the eighth VIN digit denotes this, and mine is a 'B' as it should be for 'plain' Dual Motor:

Here's how you decode the Tesla Model 3 VIN

Anyone know how to 'confirm' this? I guess a copy of the MVPA, but good grief....

They didn't have the badging available when we picked up ours. Will be getting our Model 3 wrapped and so they'd be taking it off to do that so it doesn't really bother me it wasn't in stock to add in September. Not sure how I feel about adding it later. It is very tasteful (like everything they do) so might ask to pick it up when our car goes in. Not a big deal either way for me.

With the cost of insurance higher on the Ps you'll definitely want to get that straightened out with the insurance company. I believe your Monroney Sticker should indicate it's only dual motor and not P.

Good point, Monroney or MVPA should be conclusive. Wonder what crappy VIN decoder they are using... they are 'checking' on it now, and when they call back, if there's no change, I'll send them the docs.

Thanks for the reminder!

I am pretty sure both Perf and AWD Model 3 gets "B" in VIN. The "2" and "4" are for Model S and X.

I have a question... I have a DA who has told me my VIN, posted my MVPA, and set up my delivery date (Tyson's Virginia) for 11/19.

My understanding is, once that happens, my DA will no longer really be of any use, and to get updates on the status/location of my car and to confirm that delivery is on track, I should switch over to communicating with a local delivery person at my delivery center. What is that person officially called? And how do I get in contact with that person? I'd like to touch base with them.

Thanks.

That person is called Delivery Specialist, but I have only talked to one when we took delivery of the Model X. For the Model 3, there was no person from the Delivery Center contacting us. We got a TXT asking to confirm the delivery date/time the day before. We just showed up and they assigned whoever next available to do the delivery. If you have a question, you could try to call the delivery center just to talk anyone who would talk to you....

If it’s anything like my experience your DA will become a ghost. I tried contacting her before delivery and right after to no avail.

Totally shocked this morning -

Ordered LR AWD MSM/White19" EAP at 1:12am today
Received an email at 8:53am with VIN 116xxx and delivery on 11/6
VIN also showed up in my account
The delivery has been scheduled for this afternoon, my account has shown the actual balance with a payment button since yesterday, but no contract. No one from Tesla has contacted me to confirm the delivery appointment either (Tried contacting the delivery center but was on hold for over 1:30 so I gave up). Should I just go for the appointment despite without any confirmation?

So no particular strategy for contacting the local delivery center and reaching someone who is likely to be helpful? Just ask whether any delivery specialist is available?
When I call my local SC the voice prompts have an option for deliveries. That connects me right to the Delivery Specialists. I've had no problem reaching them when I've called. They contacted me initially to confirm my information, build and delivery date, but I'm sure you could just ask them for status.

My credit union is asking for a letter of guarantee, but I can't get a hold of my delivery specialist. I called the delivery number and they told me that they don't do letters of guarantee. So I have her send me an email confirming my credit union and their address in hopes to get them to do the ACH.

While I had her on the phone, I asked if she knew where the car was located and it's already at the delivery center close to where I live. I thought it was strange that the car was here since Texas has different requirements. I checked out the vehicle and noticed a few scratches and the under panel is loose, but no damage. The one major issue is a black dot on the panel above the driver's door. This dot is in the paint under the clear. You can't even feel it. I'm fairly certain it would need to be repainted to fix. It wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't in a noticeable spot, but I will see it every time I get in the car, plus it's a red car and the black stands out.

I wonder if I should try to get another VIN before it is paid in full. Maybe they can repaint the area and make it match.

I’m located in LA area & im looking to order a Model 3 AWD.

If I order on Nov 10, what are the chances I can take delivery before Dec 31?

I want to take advantage of that 7500 rebate, but if I’m not gonna get the car before Dec 31 - I would rather wait until Jan/Feb to order and take my sweet time

Based on where you are, pretty good I'd say, but I'd order now.

I'm scheduled to take delivery this weekend - AWD/Red/White Interior/Sport Wheels. Was told it's a new November build w/ VIN 122xxx. I have previously rejected a September build w/ VIN 97xxx.

Does anybody here have evidence on whether Tesla has improved paint quality over the past 2 months? Just trying to manage my expectations.

Car delivered yesterday (11/8) in Springfield, NJ. Paperwork took 25 minutes. DS said he'd get someone to take me to my car. Came back 5 minutes later and said it would be 45 minutes. 1 hour later, he came back and said it would be just 10 more minutes. 45 minutes later, I was taken to my car. 5 minute of instructions and I was off. Just as I was pulling out, I remembered one crucial oversight. I still had the CU check. What do you suppose would have happened if I just kept driving?

Your car would have cost significantly less...
And a flustered DS would probably be unemployed...
You did the right thing ;)

I second Fiver, but there’s also a chance they are pumping out SR RWDs to end the year since the batteries seem to be a bottleneck, and producing cars with one motor and quicker to produce batteries will allow them to get more cars out the door by EOY.

It has appeared that recently orders out west have been delivered at record pace, while some of us out east have been given delivery dates with no other info to follow.

LR AWD EAP (want to add FSD) MSM/Black interior 18” Aeros
Ordered 8/23 - Maryland
Delivery date emailed 10/30 for 11/28
No VIN, no response since
