That's within 12 days of my reservation (6/11/17) and 3 weeks after my config.
Definitely the latest one Ive seen. Getting real close now :)
What about all us...

3-31-16 reservation
3-20-18 RWD opened
6-30-18 AWD ordered because no notification... opened with the masses?
Not a word from Tesla...

I think anyone trying to figure out their delivery window based off others is just wishful thinking.... Tesla uses the magic 8 ball to determine the delivery dates!

Delivery:

I'm thinking I might call today to see if they can give me any update on a VIN.

I got pre-approved on 8/12/2018 for 1.49% for 60 months through FedChoice FCU (federal employees and contractors in the Washington, DC area) but plan to do LightStream to save another .1%.
I wouldn't worry. You reserved at the tail end of the initial bubble for AWD. I was told delivery advisors are completely swamped, which is why there is a bit of a delay between the computer scheduling and human handoff. Everyone I've read on here those reserving end of March through beginning of April have their VINs. So it's just when your paper catches up to a delivery advisor.

I’m not convinced about that wcorey. I can still edit my design with the back door method and am prereveal reservation with 6/27 config w/o any design changes. So I assume that means I do not have a VIN.

Also, I’m not a software developer, but if I’m not currently logged into my account, the link just takes me to the main account page and stops there, with Manage button. It’s as if the browser’s stored login info only gets you to step one, but then if I repeat the attempt with the link on another open page it works every time. This was true on multiple browsers and both PC and my iPhone. I actually don’t want to change my order, but am only using it to check for a VIN without wasting time of an ISA. I’m just very anxious, as my lease ends Wed and will be driving an old beater pickup truck at 14mpg once that happens.

This may be useful for people. I just got off the phone with Tesla.
1) Losing edit button is NOT indicative of having a VIN, it means you are in the production queue.
2) They are currently delivering cars in month 3 of the 2-4 months so that means the VIN, being assigned roughly a month out from delivery would occur in month 2 of the 2-4 month period. This is the first I've seen where someone has decoded the 2-4 month time frame.
3) They strongly advise people NOT to arrange financing until they've been assigned a VIN. The problem I have, prompting the call is my loan approval expires at end of month so I wanted to see if there was any way to tell, short of #2 above, where I am in the process (rsv 9/17, order 6/18).
4) trade-in vs no trade-in is irrelevant to the process of getting a VIN. She said something quite interesting. She advised using Kelly Blue Book to get idea of what they will give you.
5) after VIN assigned your paper transitions to Contracts for effectively a month prior to delivery.

I hope that helps!

The other thing she told me is they are focusing now on the 2016 reservations with orders taken before they opened it up to all. If that sentence makes no sense, my 'bulleted' readout of what they told me should be, pretty much, right above this, either above your last or under your last, but not directly referencing your last.
Not sure why you referenced not being a software developer...I actually was. Is that in my bio? Anyway, aside from reading JavaScript, having been one doesn't seem to aid this process.

Then it would be really nice if they don't ask for financing details the minute the edit button disappears if I'm really still 2 months out.

Thanks for calling and getting this clarification, very helpful indeed!

Well, two months out to get a VIN, if your gray dots turn yellow (whatever that means) and/or your edit button gets funky, you are in the production ramp, likely days away from a VIN. My initial approval was w/i 24 hrs so. It's good to know one can get approval. My bank wanted 8%...so I was inspired to see if I could do better.

So you think just losing the edit button itself doesn't mean much - could be months until delivery?

BUT, losing the edit button at the same time as being prompted for financial information means production ramp and days away from a VIN?

I do still see:
Estimated delivery
Sept.'18 - Nov.'18

We will reach out to you to schedule your delivery date. Delivery time frame will be based on reservation date, order date, delivery location and vehicle configuration.

Can I assume from this mcorey that no one without a prior reservation has taken delivery of their vehicle yet? Anyone an idea of if NON-reservation holders will make it in time for the tax rebate?
This is gonna suck but "that depends". I believe there have been some w/o reservations that took delivery but that is based on self-reporting and could be prior owners/employees or just messing with people. If it's still 2-4 months and you order now, that'll put the edge of delivery mid December, right before the holidays. So...very little wiggle room. Taking advantage of the tax credit REQUIRES taking delivery not having ordered, not getting a VIN, rather, signing paperwork and driving the car off the lot.
For my wisdom, for whatever that is worth, if you cannot afford the car without $7500 tax credit, you can't afford the car. That said, on Jan 1, 2019 the tax credit is $3575 or there abouts. So it phases out, not disappears. For states with sales/registration tax, a $60,000+ car is going to be expensive every single year. With Congress's new tax code state and local taxes are not deductible. So, there will be high recurring ancillary costs associated with purchase. The SR model will be available in 6-9 months, starting at $35,000 with a ~10% tax credit.

April 1,2016 reservationist here with no VIN. The spreadsheet shows there are a lot of us on the AWD side.

wcorey - for me the tax credit offsets (over time) the cost of the LR and means I could get my car before my lease runs out early next year - I dont want to bury myself in another 2-3 year lease. But $60K is beyond my 'rational' means so I was hoping to drop to NON-PUP RWD and get a tax credit against the LR. Believe me my wish list is LR PUP AWD - but hey such is life! Champagne taste on a beer budget.

Took delivery yesterday of 3DLR, VIN #66756. Looked great! They pushed the delivery process very fast to get us out the door within 15min. Minimal explanations, but said we would figure it out with videos which is no problem. No Dual Motor badge, but said it is coming. Next step is XPEL front-end clearbra (at Auto Armour in San Diego) and Cquartz UK application (doing it myself). Looking forward to drive more this week.

For what it's worth, I reserved on 3/31/2016, ordered M3 AWD on 6/26/2018, which then told me to expect Sept-Nov 2018 delivery.

Then suddenly on 7/26/2018 I got a surprise email saying my M3 AWD had finished production and ready for immediate delivery. I am located in San Diego and took delivery on 8/12/2018. Car was white, non-P AWD, standard 18" aero wheels with required premium package and LR battery.

Trust me, I am in no way trying to rain on anyone's parade. My sense is there is a lot of, how did Greenspan put it, irrational exuberance, going on. I don't pretend to be anyone's financial advisor.

Some people are getting their car 5 days after losing their Edit button.

Here is TommyBoy's timeline
5/23/18 - Invited to configure AWD. Ordered MSM + AWD + AERO.
8/6/18 - Asked to confirm delivery details via email from "Home Delivery Specialist." NEVER got a phone call. Had to ask for VIN via email (never got a Tesla branded email with the VIN details). Added Autopilot via Delivery Specialist.
8/9/18 - Scheduled delivery date.
8/11/18 - Picked up in Kansas City!
