Right, but I'm just curious if that will actually make you get a VIN any faster. Others have reported sitting on the contract screen for a long time. I'm not trying to fault the approach you took, I'm just trying to determine if it actually makes a difference or not. As in, did it solve a problem that really gets you stuck in some weird Bermuda triangle or did they just have someone go in and accept your change just to mollify you.
I saw no progress for over a month. Within hours of submitting the escalation, things changed. Whether or not that speeds things up, I don't know but at least it corrected it so that the screens and status are in sync and match what has actually occurred.

Excited to take delivery of my AWD model 3 this tuesday, 8/21!

Congrats, I'm suppose to pick-up mine Monday (8/20), but as of yesterday, it had not arrived at the Bellevue, WA showroom/service center (NE 20th St)
My Delivery Advisor is out of the office until Tues, so I called the showroom. They said they don't have room to store cars arriving early, and it is scheduled to arrive today. Sale rep. said if I don't hear anything to come on in. I had explained to him that I live 4 hours from the delivery center and I need confirmation of my car's arrival prior to driving over. He did not offer to call and I told him I'd call back then since I wasn't accepting "no news" as confirmation it had arrived...poor customer service when they can't make a freakin phone call:mad:.

What strikes me as weird is I had been told to expect the service center to have your car two days to prep it, wash it, wax it, configure it and fix any minor damage that occurred enroute. Ford, Chevy, etc tell you when the car is ready, not when the carrier arrives.

A local (lives in my same town) friend spent some quality time with me on the phone a few weeks after I ordered my car. Our conversation convinced him to order an AWD Model 3. Note that he never "reserved", just ordered in late June. His car is being delivered this coming week. Here's the note that he just sent me (He's in India and will be returning to take delivery of his car).

Darell,
Well - how is it having that Model 3 in your garage? I am guessing it is in your garage because I got a call to India on Thursday that mine is ready for pickup as early as Tuesday this week! Wow, that was fast - I had not expected the car before Thanksgiving.

Yeah. Maddening at this point. (no I can't recall what color or wheels he ordered. I just asked. And if it is blue with 18 inches, then I won't be able to resist calling again)

this is depressing...I have been waiting 90 days, no movement! :(:(:(

It is crazy.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is much motivation for them to get their act together since there isn't any real competition. After all, the Bolt and Leaf are really a different segment, and the higher-end EVs from other companies are unlikely to be imported in the necessary volumes to impact Tesla's sale numbers (I looked at the Jaguar i-Pace and was told that they would only be importing 1,500 of them for the upcoming model year).

I think it would at least be helpful to have advisors available locally at delivery centers. For example, since I am now waiting for a new VIN, it would have been much more convenient for me to be able to go to the delivery center and work with someone in person to handle paperwork for substitution of collateral for my loan than what I ended up doing, which was cancelling the loan and submitting a new application.

I reserved 7/3/2017 and haven't heard a thing. No vin, nada.
I'm in the same boat. However. It appears they have depleted the day 1 and 2 backlog...or all but. From April 10, 2016 on reservation rate is low and largely steady. I expect to hear in the next week, two on the outside. Then a month to do contracts and ship and, delivery late Sept or early Oct...which is when they say they are hitting (delivery in second month of three month window). The main thing is try not to dwell on it. And don't touch your order!

I have heard mixed things from Tesla reps and people in these forums as to whether changing your order (color, wheels, etc) before getting a vin actually makes a difference on your wait time. The tesla customer specialists all say it doesn't matter if you make a change before a vin is assigned. They look at your reservation/order date. But if you make a change the order date is updated.

I am truly trying not to dwell on it. But when I read folks who ordered AWD after me, then made changes, getting delivery now.... I tend to get a little bit anxious. :)

Not sure about that at all. 4/1 reservation and I've heard nothing. Between here and the official Tesla forums, there's quite a few people in the same boat.

They have not depleted the Day 1/2 backlog. I can personally attest to that.
You left out the "OR ALL BUT".
Web Page Source - Spreadsheet

Sort by reservation date, the first few are bogus,
I am not implying you and others aren't still waiting. Even as Troy and CJ said, initially, logging reservations, participation was 8%-9% of full, now maybe 2%. I anticipate many of those tail end 3/31 reservations may will be fulfilled but not reported (just a guess). Not initial day 2 reservations are full even though end of day 1 show not fulfilled. Sure, there is a certain puzzlement to it.
Nuff said!

I placed my reservations initially back on April 1, 2016. I put in my first Model 3 order on June 28, 2018 and delivery was Sep-Nov. I changed the order to add the premium white interior on July 26 and my delivery window of Sep-Nov didn't change. However, after reading more about the custom AI chip Tesla was designing, I decided to go ahead and gamble another $3K and changed up my order to add the full autonomous driving package. I didn't think that could possibly make a difference in delivery timing since it is basically something they can enable by software and the new chip wouldn't be installed until 2019 or so anyway—but after I made that change, my delivery window slipped to Oct-Dec. Hmm. I didn't expect that.

I live up on the north side of the Olympic Peninsula. Rather than having to cross both the Sound and Lake Washington, both, I chose SoDo over Bellevue. I wonder if, hope that, people are having better luck over there?

My recent experience:

The very nice woman I talked to answered all my questions and ask her supervisor any she did not know.

They should take my motorcycle in trade.

They honor all prices from your initial ordering, including destination charge(even though it was higher when I was on the last page) if you modify before your VIN.

IT WILL HOWEVER PULL YOU OUT OF THAT CONFIGURATION LINE AND PLACE YOU IN THE NEW CONFIGURATION LINE AT THE END OR AT MOST IN YOUR RESERVATIONS PECKING ORDER!!!

AND NO TAKE BACKS

Any misinformation will be straightened out when you get assigned a delivery coordinator. So do not worry about out of date insurance, license, registration or pickup location info. Just make a note and tell your rep when he calls. That is his/her role in all this madness.

SHE ALSO SAID THEY ARE MAKIN ABOUT 8000 cars a week!!!

That might not be as accurate as I would like, but it is encouraging.

End result is black to white interior changed me from Sept-Nov. to Oct-Dec. :(

But folks have said same happened to them but then they got THE CALL surprisingly fast.

The real question I have is, Has any body gone past there 3 month window before delivery? Because that would suck by exactly $3750.

I did post this else where but still wanted to share here.
