That's not really (in any way even remotely) what I asked. :) I don't need advise, I need to know if anyone has successfully changed their order from a 3 to an s or x.
I haven't seen anyone on here reporting that they were able. After I test drove a Model S I was told by the sales manager at the showroom that it would be easy to convert my order if I so choose.

Your View Attachment link doesn't here J. Why the focus on order date, the vast majority are in a 2-3 day period. I think reservation by date trend line would be interesting as would a superimposed delivered on top of that, even if summarized by week. Not sure how I'd do that in a spreadsheet but it is doable. Does that make sense? I see where you've superimposed other data so I'm guessing it's not a big deal.

Is this what you're thinking of?

Is anyone else still sitting in the "a delivery specialist will contact you" message limbo?

I configured 6/27 AWD with a res date of 4/1/16. Entered confirmation with insurance info and payment type July 20 (edit link disappeared also). Added my insurance info which was wrong and it gave me the delivery specialist message. Talked with a Tesla rep via 888# a while ago and she said I had a delivery specialist assigned but no VIN. Still have not heard from specialist. Info graphic on the manage page has order step checked but not prepare for delivery.

Has this been anyone else's experience? I see people who reserved after me or same day, picking up in same location, same configuration and I'm wondering if I'm in some kind of glitch because my insurance info was wrong....

Just as another data point. Excited to say I have a delivery scheduled for tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that there are no issues/delays:

Reserved 4-3-16
Ordered 6-27-18
Edit button disappeared 8-4-18 (I think)
Multi-Coat Red
Black Interior
LR AWD (non-P)
19” Sport Wheels

Yes, I'm in the exact same state with the exact same timeline (except I reserved later than you). I've called the 888 number 3 times and they keep re-assuring me that everything is fine. Although I'm starting to see people with much later order/reservation dates than me getting VINs and cars, so I'm starting to worry.

@MorrisonHiker had the same problem but was able to get his order fixed by doing an executive escalation. I don't have that option since I'm not a current owner and the people on the 888 number have refused to escalate the issue for me.

You'd change car types because of a transportation gap? Why not rent? or use ZipCar, etc.?
I spent the first half of this year renting, it's simply inconvenient. Never heard of zipcar, but I have 3 kids to transport around and installing/uninstalling carseats with ride-share services doesn't sound like something I want to do.

Thank you very much!

I ordered 19” wheels. Configured 7/8, was contacted on 8/6, had VIN on 8/11, delivery canceled on 8/18

Do we know for sure that the wheels are the thing?

Anecdotal evidence:

Reserved 3-31-16 online before reveal
Ordered 6-27-18
Edit button disappeared 8-13-18
Scheduled Delivery 8-24-18

Did @MorrisonHiker then move through the queue normally?

Ah, I understand - my son (who has my winter car on 'indefinite loan') has twin babies!

How about buying a beater for a few thousand bucks? Even if you can't sell it afterwards, it would still be cheaper than a) upgrading to an S, or b) renting for > 2 months.

This is exactly where I am stuck. I also had a change to insurance info. FWIW, I've called twice and been told don't worry about it, and that it won't affect my VIN assignment.

I wouldn't worry too much, from the spreadsheet, it looks like they do indeed perform a "run" of a certain color and configuration. Then they match pre-orders with what was produced, and contact people to get financing/DL/Insurance in order. They likely anticipate fewer issues with delivery (refusals, where they will requeue another car that was slated for someone else to the customer who refused delivery, for example) bumping someone else out farther till the next batch of cars made like they want are able to get theirs.

The beater might have to happen either way, but the wife wanted an x to begin with, i just thought 2 3's would be better. (she has a fusion energi (~23miles on battery)). My issues with the S/X that pushed me to the 3 were the horror stories about the jump seat cooling and the (heavily) contoured seats (which make getting the carseats in 3 across a little challenging) on the S and the leg room in the 3rd row of the X.

No. But as I said, on Troys spreadsheet there has not been a VIN assigned to any AWD cars with white interior and 19" wheels. Regardless of exterior color.
There have been a few 19s with black interior. My thoughts are that the white is in limited supply as so they are prioritizing to the performance models. And there have only been a small number of AWD 19s (black interiors). Mostly it's been aeros. I think the 19s are in even tighter supply.
Note most of the recently delivered RWD test cars are on 18s. Tesla would have put them on 19s if they had them, because those are higher GM options that they want people to flal in love with.
Now, shortage of 19s may be a temporary thing, and it may be already corrected as far as we know. But if Tesla had 19s and white interior in ready supply they would be making those first in order to gain more margin.

I would hope if that was true they would be bumping those cars to us that have that same configuration but people further out on the list with same config are getting theirs.
