Agree, the "cream" interior on the S and X is very sharp.
I think it would have nicely complimented the wood dash trim as well. Change the piano black components to the dash wood and it would’ve been very inviting feeling.

In fairness, I likely would have gone white except the wife was quite opposed. She thinks it will look like an old bass boat in 5-7 years and we keep cars for ~12 yrs typically.

Crazy. I switched to white interior on Friday and they said it would delay me by several weeks. Called in today and was told I have a VIN. Really want to switch to blue instead of silver but maybe I'll keep Aero's and just get aftermarket wheels. I feel like it would probably just delay me a few days again in reality, hopefully...
UPDATE: VIN official!! 995xx.

Sticking with silver. No contact from IDA, but I called today to ask again about changing to blue and the rep gave me my IDA's email address. Sent Christopher an email and he called me back within minutes. Said I should be able to take delivery early next week and to give him a call in the morning to set it up! Stoked!!

That doesn't require any hardware changes.

Seems to depend on the DA you get.

As I mentioned (maybe this thread? hard to keep track)- Mine agrees it's all software but still insists it can not be added to the car without giving up the car and going back into the queue for a different car.

I'm hoping the actual delivery center is less firm on this point and I can just add it via them prior to taking delivery.

All cars come with the required hardware as all cars contribute to the neural network.

Seriously what a sh!t show. They can’t even disseminate a uniform policy on something as simple as requests for software upgrades between VIN and delivery. Is no one at this company running the delivery process from above? Isn’t that the whole point of their dealerless model, so customers have pricing transparency and everyone pays the same amount for the same line items, and no one feels taken for a ride.

This is identical to the PayPal model. Put customers at the very end of the list because they’re “stuck” with you for a while. Focus on generating more buyers, revenue, etc. and fix the customer part when it becomes unbearable/starts to threaten revenue.

It’s masterful.

Hi Everyone,

Long time viewer, first time contributor. So...I must have done something right in a past life or got super lucky. I walked into the showroom in UTC in San Diego and placed my order on 8/19, was allowed to apply for credit and do trade on 8/25 and edit button went away at the same time. Today got the email from the IDA and called to check on VIN and have one assigned. My config is as follows.

AWD Non P
Solid Black
18 Aero
White int.
EAP
FSD

How far away do you think I am from actually taking delivery? I am still waiting to hit the financing button. I have several job offers and deciding which way to go but want to wait for sure what my income will be before filling in the app plus I noticed it said 30 days for the credit offer to be good. I'm putting 25% down credit is not the best but after working in car sales in a past life, I would be shocked to see a bank deny a 25 to 30% down deal. Thoughts?
That is an amazing timeframe from order to receiving a VIN for an AWD. I spoke with my delivery advisor today and am expecting delivery 3rd week of September. So, I applied for a loan yesterday with the expectation of receiving the vehicle in 30 days or less. Lost edit button this past Sunday. Called sales number yesterday and was informed I have a VIN. And received an email/call from DA today.

Just called a 3rd time. Same story. She explicitly said that unless I configured and paid for the car within a few days (how many she was uncertain) of the invite to do so, I am at the back of the queue.
And yet, I never received an invite (despite having two reservations that both had "alert me when AWD is available"). And I still managed to order immediately when it opened to the masses on June 27... and hey, I'm at the back of the queue anyway.

It's also worth noting that she indicated I was sent and email and received a telephone call to inform me that I was eligible to configure my car. Neither happened.
Yup. Same here. Or I should say that I was *asked* when I received that email telling me that I could order. When I said I never received it, it was clearly assumed that I'm an email novice and didn't know about spam folders and such. And the next question was: Then how did you know you could order? (They don't understand how often some of us are checking our order page??)

So should I be happy that the backdoor edit link no longer takes me to the edit page? It just keep redirecting me to my account main page.
If I were you, I'd be happy. I mean, that has to be better than the alternative, right? However... my "backdoor edit link" hasn't taken me anywhere for weeks. And nothing has changed. Just like nothing changed when my edit button went away two months ago.

They told me not to change anything if you can. You might go backwards in the delivery schedule
I figure that if I go "backwards" at this point, that it would be like a double negative, and I'd be taking deliver in in early August, 2018, like so many of my friends have.

Might want to take the next step today and call Tesla... Would help confirm that losing the ability to get to that url means you have a VIN.
Would help confirm that this is what it means? I can tell you with certainty that it doesn't mean that for me!

Because of white interior.. I've been reading about stories similar to his and know a guy with a similar story local to me and the common denominator between all of them was white interior + aeros

I finally broke down and on Sunday added white interior to my aero build. I just hope I didn't wait to long until after all the others got taken. I really think they over made the white interior with the non p for a week or two before they realized they over produced for demand.

It actually makes sense how they messed up though. Apparently white interior had like a 75% take rate on the P model. I think they made a lot of whites for the non-P thinking it would be the same thing.... wrong. There is only like a 15% take rate on white with the non P model.

So there was some extra made that need assigned.

Well a few hours later I heard back from my Delivery Adviser... The date has been changed back to Sept 7th. He said that the vehicle is in transit, so hopefully it makes it there by the end of next week. He said it was a data entry error...

Given all the highlights of the manufacturing problems Tesla had a couple of months ago, now they seem to have pushed the problem out of manufacturing to delivery. I hope they get all this resolved soon.

Red AWD, black int, 19", FSD

4/1/16 reservation
6/28/18 Configuration
8/16/18 contacted that car was ready with 9/1/18 delivery appointment
8/17/18 was able to pay for car (had to be done in advance since out of state)
8/23/18 documents arrived fedex from Tesla to sign for delivery
8/27/18 contacted by Tesla Delivery Adviser that car was delayed in shipping... New delivery 9/7/18, VIN appears on web same as in MVPA
8/28/18 afternoon VIN disappears on delivery check list (still same one online in MVPA), delivery date changes to 9/14/18
8/28/18 evening DA emails back that was data entry error, delivery date changed back to 9/7/18, says car is in transit
9/7/18 current delivery date

So if that got you nowhere, then remind me why I should be happy? It went away after my financing was approved, but I guess I better not get my hopes up then.

Yes but people's results have been very hit or miss lately. Many are being told they have to pay 5k as if it were after or give up their VIN and re-enter the queue.
That sounds like, and rightfully so, Tesla is cracking down on people fornicating with their orders. It doesn't require additional hardware period. However if you subsequently want it then yes, the price goes up. And that is explained right on that order page.
As for second / third hand information from what allegedly Tesla reps are telling people, I can't comment.

THIS! How hard would it be to just come up with a standard policy document for everyone to follow? The only reasoning I can come up with is Tesla themselves don't know and are in a "seat of the pants" mode right now

Cool we should meet up in Bend once we get our 3s! I checked my page source and searched for 97701 and 97702, and there was nothing. Then, I searched for Portland, and it showed this:
"Delivery Appointment at ##place##","Title":"Portland-SW Macadam Avenue","Address1":"4330 SW Macadam Ave","City":"Portland","State":"OR","Postal":"97239",

So, it seems I'm set up, for now, for pickup at the Portland delivery center.

If you're familiar with the backdoor edit link go there first before doing the source code search, and then search for "97702" as that only appears when actually on the edit configuration page. When I search the source code on the main finalized page I also get the "Portland-SW Macadam" delivery appointment and not the "97702", so it makes me think that it would possibly change to the 97702 delivery center on the main page, if I were to actually confirm any edit to the design.

"city":"BEND","stateProvince":"OR","county":"Deschutes","zipCode":"97701","zipExtension":"3403","countryCode":"US","isUspsValidated":true},"pickUpZipCode":"97702","deliveryType":"PICKUP_SERVICE_CENTER","pickupLocationTrtId":941,"deliveryAddress"

Quick update:

Took delivery of my Model 3 AWD Obsidian Black Metallic yesterday, Monday August 27th, in Bellevue, WA (NE 20th St.) after being rescheduled from Friday, August 24th due to "logistics" issues. Anyone interested in my timeline, my original post is here earlier in this thread. I won't go into much details since I'll probably do a longer write-up after a full week with the vehicle but my inspection went well enough that I accepted delivery. But if anyone has any specific questions, feel free to ask away.

Otherwise, suffice to say, extremely pleased with the vehicle. I'm currently in Vancouver/Richmond, B.C. with the vehicle for the rest of the week. Plenty of free J1772 stations around to keep the battery topped off but did hit a couple Superchargers along I-5 (WA) and Tsawwassen (BC) just to get a feel for how Supercharging works even though it's not free.

Anyway, here are a few pictures.

Never saw 120 kW during charging, but 119 kW during "bulk" is good enough for me I guess...
I'm kidding! 120 kW vs 119 kW is obviously marginal. ;)

Awesome. Congrats. What is the seat of your pants telling you? Is the AWD punchy enough off the line for you? Do you have any comparisons for us?

Please and do tell all.
