Have had no contact with Tesla until today. Now that we're in our delivery window of Sept-Nov, we wanted to verify that Tesla has our order. So this morning my husband called the sales department in Highland Park, IL. The guy he spoke to said they would be assigning us a delivery specialist and we would hear from our delivery specialist in a few days. He also said he can see our order in their system, he can't give a better delivery estimate than the Sept-Nov window, they are doing a LOT of deliveries, and the delivery estimates people are seeing on their accounts are accurate. He is 90% sure we will pick up at Highland Park (we are in WI where Tesla has no stores) instead of getting home delivery. A couple of hours later, my husband gets an email from a DSA saying that we can schedule delivery at Highland Park on 9/26 or 9/27. Coincidence?

Coincidence? - Nope.. this is how Tesla works.. the store folks have $#$ clue on whats going on most of the time similar to the call center CSR.. only the DSA's know what the heck going on to some extent using their own internal spreadsheet when it comes to scheduling I guess. It sounds like Tesla is running the whole show lately with pen and paper than systems/automation.

I just got a call to schedule for delivery on 9/29! I just ordered AWD non-p, Red, 19" wheels, EAP on September 10 - no reservation, no prior owner! Holy cow what a quick turnaround.
Watch out .. "RED" is the red flag there ..could be someone else reject that happened today or recently :) .. congrats and good luck.. hope it is not a reject piece.

From what I've been observing, they like to assign a VIN about seven days prior if possible. My personal guess is that their ambitious goal was that you'd have a VIN assigned by the 17th, but it won't display in your account until the 22nd as you've chosen the 28th. If it looks like it will be in town before the 26th, I think you may receive a call offering to pick it up early. If it doesn't look like it's going to arrive by the 26th, I predict you'll get a delivery delay call. My mistake may have been choosing the 22nd (earliest day in my window) so that's why I got a delay call. If the rumors are true that the VIN stays assigned to you even if they remove it from view in your account, my hope is that I'll get a call offering an earlier delivery than my new date of 10/2 if it comes in sooner than 9/30.

So, interesting development today. After seeing others in MN getting end of September dates after their initial delay call, I called Delivery Scheduling one more time to politely inquire if I can get any date sooner than October 1 or onward (very busy week/month for me). They told me that they could not because "all slots before that were full". I thanked them and asked if there was any way to be notified if another opening came up sooner. He indicated that only my IDA can proactively look for openings like that. After I mentioned that my initial IDA had been very unresponsive, I asked who they see as my IDA, only to receive a name totally different than the IDA who contacted me initially to confirm my appointment (and different than the DSA that originally emailed me to schedule, also non-responsive). I asked him if he could have this new IDA contact me.

That person then contacted me a couple of hours later and was WORLDS APART from other reps I've been working with. He was very kind, courteous, texted me afterwards, told me to call anytime, seemed very excited for me, thanked me repeatedly for being one of the people that is making it possible for Tesla to do something historic, and sounded like he genuinely wanted to help. He was able to move me to 9/28 and thought it was strange that the system initially told him all slots were full when he could see that they clearly weren't from some other view he had.

What I thought was interesting, is he mentioned that he had been pulled from another department to help with this, so Tesla is clearly going all out to correct for their delivery issues (something he acknowledged on his own accord).

While he couldn't tell me exactly where my vehicle was, he could confirm that even though my VIN disappeared from the website, it is indeed still assigned to me and it will reappear precisely 7 days prior to my newly scheduled date. He also confirmed that I should see the ACH payment option open 48 hours prior to delivery.

My guess is that the checkbook is more for miscellaneous charges that come up during delivery (adjustment to taxes/fees, I don't know).
That actually makes sense. I have a Lvl 2 charger for my Prius Plugin that delivers 24a to the car. It'll work just fine on the M3 even at 17 miles / hour of charge. We get a J1772 adapter with the car. I was thinking of buying another one just to keep attached to the charger so the one with the car will be available for trips. They sell them online ($95), maybe they'd have them at a Tesla store. Or floor mats etc. I meant more for the case of, "sorry, $1,000 shy, how about I write you a check".
My first purchased new car was in 72, Chevy Vega. I've never bought used. I don't like buying anything used, 7 new homes up and down east coast, 15 new cars.

Whether it has or not isn't an issue. I'm more concerned with them saying issues are "within tolerances" and trying to blow them off instead of fixing them as was the case from the delivery I linked.
Between white and black there are infinite shades of gray. If it's clearly off, my 15+ new car purchases tells me they'll take care of it. If it's a dick measuring contest, yes, I can see the seller saying, do you want it or not, rather than yes master, whatever you say master. This is why it's not your car until you sign the paperwork at that point it's your car. There is a reason there are old adages, specifically, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar".

I have an MVPA in my account. I read some people got links to digitally sign their MVPA but not me. So I reached out to my DA and he mentioned there is no need to sign and that it can be handled and signed at pickup. Others who have the same experience? I know it makes sense to go with whatever they tell me do, but I know there's been plenty of people who got in delivery trouble because of misinformation so figured I would ask here.

I would call your actual delivery center and ask them. They are the folks giving you the car and taking your money.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that all Tesla vehicles are transported by United Road... is that the case?

I can't confirm with 100% certainty, but so far my car never showed up on United Road, and I'm scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Got a call from the delivery center today and she told me car was on the lot and ready for delivery tomorrow.

If you've got financing they'll need an executed mvpa. Double check what you're looking at isn't the order agreement.

Yesterday received our VIN. 88,7xx. Ordered 6/26. Pearl White, AWD (non-P), 19" sport wheels, premium interior black, EAP. Will pick up at Fremont delivery center this weekend.

Not our first attempt at a delivery date/time like many of you. However, after being contacted again for delivery, on 9/6 we immediately sent our preferred dates and times. 9/7 received a confirmed date, time, location on our account. This past Friday, 9/14, we decided to sell our car instead of trade-in and called Tesla to ask how we could get our account updated, hoping this moved us closer to a VIN faster. The guy said he could help out with that and checked our account. He emailed our ISDA and Monday we received an email from her saying the account had been updated. During the afternoon we were sent our contract info to verify and finalize, and a few hours later we noticed the VIN section on our account was now checked and we had a VIN. Now just waiting out the days.
