AWDs on the way to Canada?!?

This is an interesting chart. Anyone who's ever had contact with any trucking/logistics people can see how this makes total sense. The further you are from a major trucking lane, the longer your delivery takes. And the smaller the order base, the longer it takes to fill a truck, the longer it takes. Canadian deliveries are somewhat longer, but deliveries in the boonies (Georgia, Iowa, Kansas) are super long. And places like Colorado, which you'd expect to have relatively longer lead times, are quick due to higher order volumes.

Still crickets for me ...

Blue LR, AWD, PuP, 18", supposed Oakville delievery between Sep 26-Oct 3

No update from DA (only first e-mail with date range), no update on web page. All items are green on web "Next Steps - We are drafting up your contract and will contact you when you can make your final payment."

Can you access the backdoor? If you can't you'll get contacted in the next couple of days. The DA's are super busy with an end of quarter push, and it took about a week for me to get an email back then two days later I still had to phone him to get my VIN.

Do you mind sharing where you took it, cost and what was done?

I took mine to Calgary PPF which is a 2 minute drive from the Service Center. I'm getting the full front + A-pillar + mirrors, windshield protective film, and complete ceramic coating for about $3000. I'm not sure if it's a great deal, but it was very convenient being so close to the Service Center. They also do a lot of Tesla's, so that also gave me comfort that they'll know what they're doing. I'm getting it back today, and I'll let you know how it went.

BTW, I parked my old car at their shop and they gave me a ride to the Service Center, so I could pick up my Model 3. That gave me a chance to drive my new Model 3 for about 20 min before dropping it off to get it done.

I was looking for this info as well thanks!

Did you arrange your appointment with them when you had a delivery date? Is it 3M or XPEL that they are putting on the car? How long will the PPF take?

I called them ahead of time to let them know I'd be coming and to let them know what I wanted done. If you can do it during the week, you should be able to get in no problem. Weekends are really busy for them. I had to delay my delivery on Monday due to a paint issue, and got it back from Tesla yesterday. When I dropped it off at Calgary PPF they told me there were a few Model 3 appointments they had scheduled that were delayed due paint issues.

They use 3M Pro Series. If I was just getting the front wrapped they could do it in an afternoon. If you're planning for a full body wrap it'll take 3 days. If you're getting ceramic coating add 24 hours as it takes that much time to dry the coating.

Hey Guys,

From Calgary as well, my account asked me to fill in my address yesterday. Afterwards I called the Tesla Calgary Service Center for a VIN, I got one in the 110xxx range.

How long has it taken from VIN to Delivery Appt for others here?

I got my call August 28th, but no VIN, and scheduled a September 15th delivery. Got my VIN September 4th. Called Friday September 7th to get my final payment info, and got my delivery bumped up to September 10th as the cars were in Calgary and ready to be delivered.

So from VIN to delivery for me was 6 days. Keep in mind that Calgary Delivery Center is getting slammed right now with new deliveries. I've seen 3 car carriers full of Model 3's in the past week. They're expecting 200 deliveries here in Calgary.

Good luck!

I just contacted Tera (in Calgary) about putting Expel on my 3. As long as you have a warm garage she applies it at your house.
She has done the last four of my vehicles and does a great job. Almost half price as she free lances. PM me if you want her SMS number.

I’m really looking forward to that, we have the same car.

What they say is true... this car is freaking amazing! It's such a joy to drive. I'm still getting used to the regen braking, as it makes my wife a little sick to the stomach, or maybe it was my fast acceleration that was doing it. LOL

The wrap looks great and in the rain you can tell the ceramic coating is making the water bead up and run off.

Has anyone who had a delivery window l in Onatrio between September 26 and October 3 receive any further communication from Tesla?
I had an Amelia send me an email, I responded with 2 dates and still no contact from Tesla confirming the time or date. My account still states that a delivery specialist will contact me and has been this way for months.

No. From what I can gather it seems there will be a huge delivery event at the International Center starting around Sep 25th or so. I suspect the cars will start coming in close to the end of this week. Once they get the cars they're probably start on the paperwork and notify people. That's my best guess.

I've seen a few people with that delivery window get confirmed. I'm one of them as well. It took over a week to hear from someone but I'm currently confirmed for the 29th. Spoke with an IDA, and he said they are trying to make a push for last quarter and are backlogged so there is still a strong chance people will get contacted this week.

I had that delivery window for a delivery at Oakville. That is exactly the week I am out of town overseas. I replied to my delivery specialist that I can’t make that window so I could I do it a couple of days later? (doesn’t seem too unreasonable). After about a week he replied and said if I miss that window he can’t say when my next opportunity will be. I Emailed back several times since then but it has been radio silence!

You need to call the general number and escalate it if necessary.

Thanks,
Got the call today, received a VIN in the 110 range and they told me that delivery can and will take place in Oakville and not the IC. However they are saying likely in the beginning of October, but no confirmed date as of yet.

I asked why are they moving it from the original dates in the email and they said that there is a backlog and that they likely can't make the original date due to shipping and customs etc, however they would call me if they can move it up.

I partially want my car but I also want to help add to the Q3 numbers as well. So here's hoping to a September delivery.

Interesting sequence of Tesla events FYI (all in the AWD / Performance Order Tracker):
  • 2018-01-16 - Reserved
  • 2018-06-28 - Ordered (see sig for config)
  • 2018-07-23 - First contact - confirming payment and delivery location
  • 2018-09-04 - VIN (email)
  • 2018-09-07 - Delivery date
  • 2018-09-08 - Delivery location on my Tesla page
  • 2018-09-16 - VIN on my Tesla page
  • 2018-09-17 - called by IDA to reconfirm my delivery was still a 'go', and for the "Bill of Sale" required for insurance (see below)
  • 2018-09-17 - MVPA (email) - required for insurance
Aviva is Tesla Canada's recommended insurance agent. Their quote was cheaper than 4 others i checked including my existing company (The Personal), so of course I accepted by phone. But it turns out their system can't accept AWD models yet! They can't place the VINs. The agent said I needed the MVPA (with sale and VIN) for them to issue insurance in advance of my pickup date. I had several calls with my IDA (she almost always picked up - amazing!) to finally get my MVPA today.
