Bricked Model Y

This morning I watched my 2022 Model Y as it headed off on a flatbed for the nearest service center. Leading up to this, I was making a quick trip to Lowes when I got a message: power reduced, front motor temporarily disabled, ok to drive. I parked, spent 10 minutes in the store, came out and found the following messages on the screen:

Electrical system unable to support all features
Switching off features to conserve energy
Vehicle may not restart
Service is required
Electrical system power reduced
Vehicle shutting down

Then low system power 32%…..30%. Etc

Finally bricked.

11,000 miles delivered in mid-March.

The service center will have a look Monday.

Anyone else seen something similar?

It’s not bricked. Currently not working, but not bricked. Tesla will fix it and it’ll be fine.

I appreciate the reassurance. Probably the wrong term to use. Ended up unable to access the car, no power. I’ll be happy when they’ve found the cause. I agree they’ll get it fixed and all will be well. Thanks again!

If I had to guess, 12v battery issue.

I suspect a front motor or inverter problem that caused the DC-to-DC converter going offline, resulting in the 12 volt battery dying. Hopefully Tesla gets you back on the road quickly.

The car won’t close contractors after restarting if it detects any issues with HV components, which causes the 12V battery to drain after a short time.

It's possible to open the front trunk by prying off a cover and jumping the two wires with a 9v battery. You should then be able to pull the car apart and jump the 12v battery. Completely unacceptable for this to happen to a 11k car, but with anything technology, this *sugar* happens.

As predicted, Tesla was able to get the car repaired in short order. Apparently, something shorted in the front drive inverter, either a diode or something else, which in turn popped the pyro fuse cutting off power to the 12v system. A new front drive unit inverter, pyro fuse, tire pressure adjustment and alignment and all was good to go.

Similar problem happened with our 2015 Model S. But the car was 5 years old.

Turns out the battery heater stopped working. The car greatly reduced power and had no regen. It limped home and I was able to drive it over to the Service Center. It felt like I was driving a ’73 Pinto.

It was an easy fix but cost $800 because it was out of warranty at that point.

Seems like I see this issue come up in the forums at least once a week. I wonder what the actual percentage is internally with Tesla.
