Just an FYI for those that purchase a CPO - you can find if there was previously a sticker issued if you call the DMV Special Processing Unit (they used to be called this) 916-657-8035. They can look up using VIN or License. Surprisingly, mine never had stickers issued.

I know... I have to take this fight to Sacramento... someone who bought/registers car on Jan 1st 2017 gets 5yrs, and one who bought in December 2016 gets 2yrs.
Either provide rolling 3yrs for all (but they cannot enforce it.. i get it), or, they consider cases like me and approve.

I just wanted to say yeah, totally agree!

I also got my stickers in the latter half of 2016 so I’ll only get around 2.5 years out of them. And you’re basically the most extreme example of how someone could theoretically get as low as only 2 years of use while someone who registered January of 2017 gets 5 years...

Is there any hope that they may pull back the cutoff to include stickers issued in 2016?

As of March 1st issuing red stickers. Still, only 2017 & 2018 cars will be able to renew their white/green stickers on red stickers.

Finally got the decals in the mail today. They are red, a large set and a small set.

Do I have to apply both sets? Seems excessive.

I submitted the application sometime towards the end of Jan 2018, prior to taking delivery of the car in Feb. DMV deposited my check on Mar 19 and I received the decals in the mail today, Mar 22. Others have received their decals in a much shorter amount of time.

I have heard from DMV personnel that they process these applications in "batches".

Now, more importantly, do I apply all four stickers or can I just use one set of two?

I'm going to feel very silly driving around with my car covered with these things..

I only put one sticker on the rear and have had no issues so far in a year of using the car pool lanes.

Why 4 stickers? My set only has 3.

The four red stickers I received, came with the following instructions..

Since the stickers are red and my car is red, I didn't mind using all four.

I believe the stickers make the car go faster as well..

State could easily achieve their objectives by having us put one sticker in the lower right hand corner of the windshield, and another in the lower left hand corner of the rear window. Easily seen by cameras and authorities.

The area of bumper stickers went away in the 70"s.

The Green stickers always had that requirement.

an additional piece of information - spoke with DMV unit that issues the stickers and they said that if you qualify for re-application/extension at the end of 2018 (to 2022), it will remain the red sticker that you received - you won't need to put on new stickers.

Thanks for the info Ketchups! Lucky that your car is red. I don't know if I can bear to put them on my silver one. White would be have just fine, but red aren't going to blend in at all!

I actually appreciate all four stickers. When I am splitting traffic - I split very slow - I can see the stickers and anticipate the vehicle jumping into the HOV lane - unfortunately sometimes without looking.

Luckily motorcycles don't need stickers
