Based on new information posted, I believe the two kits both include the CCS adaptor and ECU, and one of them also includes a replacement charge port for older Model 3s. They both cost $350, and you only need one, depending on vehicle manufacturing date. Install labor is included in the price per the store website, so the only extra cost should be sales tax.
Having now gotten the retrofit installed, correction to above is both versions of the retrofit kits contain an ECU and the CCS adaptor. There is simply a different version of the ECU for the pre-busbar version of the charge port (prior to Aug. 2020 build).

We got the retrofit kit installed, by Tesla, on our 2018 Model 3 LR RWD last week and tested it. Other than the challenge of finding an available and working CCS charger and fussing to get a charging session started, we tested it out and it worked - at least at 50 KW. Hopefully, with pre-heating and a lower SoC upon arrival, it will charge faster on road trips when we may want it.

Took my car, with the CCS retrofit, on a road trip from the Dallas area to Stillwater, OK and back. Since I can now use CCS chargers, I was able to take the scenic route from the Denison supercharger up to Ada, OK, then to Stillwater. Charged at Ada each way and at Stillwater. Much more enjoyable drive than taking I-35 up through OKC. And no need to go out of the way to the Perry SC to top up for the trip back.

Charging in Stillwater was below par for speed, but got the job done. Ada was pretty good, even without preconditioning. Unfortunately, the Ada location is at a kind of dumpy convenience store/casino.

There were very strong South winds for the return trip. And, I had a bike on the roof rack to add extra drag on the car, so having the ability to charge at Ada let me drive above the speed limit with no concerns for range.

The retrofit is currently ongoing on my car, it's definitely interesting to follow the process! It's a pretty quick process to do the actual replacement, most of the time is just waiting on software.

According to the technician, the CCS Retrofit option in the service menu has around a 50-50 success rate, if it doesn't work he'll need to connect his computer to the car and try it manually. So that's interesting and also probably important information for anyone that wants to try doing the upgrade on their own without a service appointment.

Edit: After a software update finished it still has a few error messages that the technician seems surprised by, he's working on figuring out the solution to them now.

Another follow-up, apparently he was provided the wrong version of the replacement part to install. He had us drive after him to the service center, where he got and installed the correct part, which did work successfully, as we tested at an EVGo charger on the way home. It was very finicky to get the charging started and to get the plug into the adapter, but it did ultimately work.

Way too much effort for the 46kW it gave us, hopefully I almost never need to actually use the adapter.

Also it seems that pushing on the charge port cover to open it isn't working anymore after the retrofit, has anyone else had that issue after the retrofit? It still works fine from the app, touchscreen, and charger buttons, just not from pushing on the cover. The magnet on the cover doesn't seem to have fallen off this time (as it has once in the past).

Mobile service did the retrofit for me today, '18 Model 3; 2023.44.30.25. CCS retrofit button was in service menu. Everything went smoothly and it only took half an hour. Haven't had a chance to test yet.

My push to open works.

Mine works, but the button on my charger handle seems much more temperamental. Most likely coincidence for me.

I dont think I said it anywhere, but when the mobile tech did mine, he said "the button on the software install screen didnt work so I had to get my laptop out and connect manually, then it went right through".

He was in my driveway while I was working in my office inside so I didnt see the process. In my head, I translated that to "The ccs retrofit button on screen didnt work, so I had to use my laptop and toolbox to get it to work". Thats definitely not what he said, he said the first thing I typed, but thats how I heard it, lol.

My tech looked for the CCS Retrofit button, didn't find it ("they keep moving these things on me!") and ended up in toolbox (he showed me that he was logged in to my car remotely and that the car screen shows his username for security) to kick off a re-install of the current version. He started packing up while the install was happening.

There is no specific option under battery and charging in the app for me.

Nothing in accessories under charging: chargers, adapters, or parts. Every few months I have requested the retrofit through service in the app. Every time they cancel the request saying the retrofit is not available for my car. At this point, the retrofit appears to be vaporware for my car. They may be making it available by region. I'm in Portland, Oregon.

I just put in a general service request and typed in "CCS Upgrade" in the request box. Normally, they get back to me telling me that it is not available and to try back later.
A couple of weeks ago, it went through and they scheduled to come out and they installed it. It seems to work.

For my CCS retrofit service request a couple of weeks ago, I believe I went into the Battery & Charging category in the app and told them what I wanted (CCS retrofit). Didn't think to look under Upgrades. They understood what I was asking for and quoted me the $350 cost.
