How difficult would it be for Tesla to clarify in the covering email what they were doing to avoid all this confusion/pi$$ing off a whole new generation of owners before we have even become owners.

This whole day 1 reservation / day 1 order followed by lack of accurate (any?) information on progress, huge delays in answering ‘phones (hours), multiple emails ignored, and generally not being treated as a valued customer is all making me question why I am patiently still standing in line with 50 grand in my hand. The M3 better be worth it!

Agree with Nell. I had the same email and not obvious about why the price up by £3.5k. Poor PR not answering the phone. Did anyone manage to walk into a store and physically speak to someone about this and get a human response ? I was very close to cancelling my m3 order as the price had stacked up from the touted £35k initially . This new price hike would have confirmed my cancellation if I hadn't realised (from these forums) that it was to do with the grant no longer being counted . Reserved day 1 in 2016 but still no assurance s my delivery will be July or December this year !

Doesn't anyone have a generic tesla sales email address I can use to query my order confirmation?

Like others I received the update to my order which includes/excludes the plugin grant from the price structure (obviously they were getting many calls about this) - I noticed my agreement doesn't have the £1,000 reservation fee.

Not worried, just want the delivery day to be as easy as possible.

Obviously that is for Handover enquiries, so might not work for Sales per se.

If you haven't got a VIN they won't have any information as to delivery date (as in "reliable" ... might give you some indication, but it won't be worth anything ... plenty of people who were given Mid-July are being given a couple of days notice to pick up the car in June ... and conversely the website says July which is extremely unlikely to happen for anyone placing an order now (excepting some model options combination that they have made but no one, except you!, wants to buy :) )

I would guess that when the order agreement is generated it automatically sends an email. As it disappeared and has now be regenerated it's probably just used the default email template for that "Create Order Agreement" action. I'm not saying its the right way to do it, but that's probably what happened.

Well I'm having to rethink the whole purchase now. Model 3 versus other options and all of the various configurations of the EV world (current and near future). I'm supposed to be selling my current car (a Leaf, so fuel savings don't mean anything to me) on Friday, so now that is up in the air too due to their error. I only bought the configuration I did because other options weren't available at the time and the price I was quoted was just about affordable (and was before the government grant, how I wish I had screenshotted it at the time). This error changes all of that. I may have to put it all on hold and wait out a pure RWD version (losing the savings I originally got on FSD which as someone intending to keep the car until it falls apart still has value for me). Such a mess, this has been the most excited I've been about a car purchase, but the most stressful also.

From what I gather you are under the impression you won't receive the government grant, I think you need to relax a little its only been a day since the email and Tesla aren't that efficient. I see no reason why you would not receive the grant, Tesla have just adjusted an invoice to show the price before the grant and I am sure they will not expect you to pay the price exc the grant.

It does seem their backend is slow and their accounting department take a few days to get anything changed, I would wait it out and they will amend the invoices before final payment, if you have a delivery contact send an email to them and they can chase accounting.

As the issue is likely widespread to everyone I would not worry about it as they will sort it and expect a credit note to appear for the government grant.

Why can Tesla not just say that in the covering email?

because Tesla are busy staying float and trying to make a difference.

yeah, their Back Office systems stink.

Clearly they had a need to do this for some reason. Someone in accounts was told to do it. They didn't speak to Sales or Marketing and therefore never considered the ramifications for you, the customer. Imperative is to move-forwards, not worry too much about the side effects of that - "Perfect being the enemy of good" stops progress.

Provided everyone winds up paying the same price for the car (which, on past history, is what Tesla has honoured in the past when these sort of mistakes have happened) its a non-issue.

Move on.

Tesla have always clearly quoted their pricing on the website including the government grant (at least for the last couple of years since I bought my first Tesla). So you are only going to be disappointed if (like Fakoriginal) you were under the impression that another £3500 was going to be deducted from your original quoted pricing and invoice. But nobody will actually have to pay the additional £3500 shown on these updated invoices with the grant excluded. The final invoice for my Model X shows the full price excluding grant and is then finally adjusted with a credit.

So unless you thought your car was actually going to be £3500 cheaper than originally quoted, then relax and chill out!

Got this email from Tesla from my query:

The price of the car has remained the same, this order agreement has simply been reissued to show the total price with the £3,500 UK plug in grant.

The total amount (that you will pay) is the amount on the order agreement less the £3,500. This will also be clear on your final invoice.

Nope. The issue is that when I created my order (before 09:00 on 1st May) the website was incorrectly deducting the government grant twice: once in the main price, then again as a separate line item. Hence why my original order agreement was wrong (but matched that incorrect calculation). I know I'm going to get the government grant, but they incorrectly credited it twice when I was configuring my car.

I see your pain, but it's a different issue than what most people are discussing here i.e. latest invoice simply being shown ex. grant. In your case you really were led to believe there would be another £3500 deduction for the grant. I'm afraid that is definitely not happening. FWIW I would just ditch FSD to keep within your original budget. It's massively over-hyped for what it can actually do. Basic AP is very close, except for the crippled lane changing. To be honest auto lane-changing is a pita anyway. I use it because it's there, but really it's harder work (and definitely more unpredictable) than just steering across lanes yourself and doesn't work well in real world traffic unless you have the patience of a saint! Basically, with the hindsight of personal experience, I have no problem only specifying basic AP on my next Tesla.

Thank you for at least believing that I was shown what I was shown.

Well I don't find it hard to believe that Tesla may have messed up their webpage initially! It was at least showing correctly when I ordered on May 2nd. All I can say though in Tesla's defence is that the cars are still worth it despite the poor comms. There's nothing else I would consider ordering in place of an M3 right now or in the next 12 months at least.

Great. Why could the covering email we all got not have said just that?

Why could the covering email we all got not have said just that?

Because in the automatic generation of literally thousands of credit notes their system doesn't allow that. Or the person in accounts doing it had no idea that there was a customer-facing issue that needed addressing.

I understand it is annoying.
I agree that Tesla could and should do better
I don't understand why it is worth 3 pages of posts.

Fair enough, I see your point but they will say that they reserve the right to adjust the pricing and will no way honour a £3500 discount as well as they grant as it was a technical issue.
