We knew that 2023 was hottest year on record but we didn't know the Global Temperature Deviation of 2023.
Now we know that the Global Temperature Deviation of 2023 is 1.43 degrees Celsius VERY CLOSE to the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris.

According to ERA5 the Temperature Deviation in 2023 was 1.48C, not 1.43C that JRA-55 reported earlier this week, so EVEN CLOSER to the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris.

Actually it's a matter of hundredths of Degrees Celsius. Not relevant if the Global Temperature Deviation of 2023 was 1.43C or 1.48C IMO.
From a substantial point of view we have already reached the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris for the Global Temperature Deviation of 2023.

The Ocean Acidification issue is worsening as a consequence of the increase of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere.
In fact in the graphs reported you can see the pH of the Oceans which is decreasing. Acidity is inverse of pH which is defined like this:

pH = - log[H+] where [H+] is the ions Hydrogen H+ concentration.

Peter D Carter is IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Expert Reviewer.

Acidity is inverse of pH because

pH = - log[H+] = log1/[H+]

1.5 is arbitrary. We are already toast.

Cop29, the next round of UN talks to tackle the climate crisis, will be led by another veteran of the oil and gas industry.

Mukhtar Babayev, Azerbaijan’s ecology and natural resources minister, has been appointed the president-in-waiting for the Cop29 climate talks when they take place in the country in November.

Didn't do any comment to the news because IMO true problem is to have COP29 in a Petrostate like Azerbaijan.
Think that only when we will overtake the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris for the Global Temperature Deviation we will understand that we need oil industry and Petrostates to stay out of COP decisions, as former Vice President Al Gore suggested.

The year 2023 has been confirmed as the warmest in recorded history, with average temperatures topping 1.5C of heating above preindustrial levels for more than one third of the year. It continues the rapid warming trend, with the 10 warmest years in human history all having occurred since 2010.

So what could 2024 hold? Forecasts suggest the year ahead is likely to be another record breaker, with a strong possibility that this could be the first full year to go beyond 1.5C of warming.

First time that I see a graph of Methane (CH4) concentration in the atmosphere.
Methane (CH4 potent greenhouse gas) reached a preliminary new record high value in September 2023 (1927.4 ppb).

ppb stands for Parts Per Billion

Wish to add that Methane is responsible for 30% of Current Warming and 0.5 degree Celsius of Temperature Deviation meaning that its contribution to Global Warming is not negligible.
