For a car as smart as a Tesla, you’d think the cameras would recognize the condensation build up and activate the camera heaters.

Yeah you’d think. I’ve seen zero compelling evidence of any camera heater except for the front camera system, though. Even that one posted picture in the snow could easily be just camera-use-generated heat.
And I’ve seen no evidence of late showing how to even make the front camera system defogger work. And Tesla has been quiet on the matter.
That's cute.It was pretty cold outside this morning, 6:36am, and my interior car temp was 35F.
That's cute.
-18F straight temp here last night
However this morning I got my first alert that my front camera was blocked. Wished I had taken a photo of the alert to say exactly what it said.
I noticed the other day when my side view mirrors were totally covered with ice/snow that I had to turn on the rear defroster to get them to heat up. Is it possible its the same with the camera defogger? Why doesn't the car de-fog this? Seriously... how do you get the front camera system defogger to do its job?!

Sure, check my post in the related thread here.I’ve never seen the camera defrost working. Do you have any evidence of it working on any of the recent updates?
I randomly walked by someone’s Model 3 parked in a driveway, facing the street a couple days ago. The entire car was covered in dew, except the front camera cluster, which was nice and clear. My guess was Sentry Mode turns on the little defroster if needed to do its job.
After having slowed down on AP due to poor visibility I checked the cameras and they are fogged up. And get this I am in San Jose CA and it is sunny and 80 outside. Is there a way to clear it up?
Though there were heating elements around the windshield cameras? Those should have cleared it up, if not then I wonder if it failed. After having slowed down on AP due to poor visibility I checked the cameras and they are fogged up. The front-camera heating element is not exactly smart. It very often fails to kick on when the glass is fogging up. I think it is tied to HVAC setting.Though there were heating elements around the windshield cameras? Those should have cleared it up, if not then I wonder if it failed.
