I am sorry to be so ignorant, but I do not know HOW to PM him. Is there a PM button I can't find on this site? It is very frustrating to keep having people say to "PM" him when you don't know how to do it.
Can anyone tell me how to get in touch with TonyT outside this Club site? I am having eMMC failure in my 2013 Model S - 95,000 miles.
@bayareadriver, good report. But still a dead screen? What are you going to do?
Did they tell you the replacement cost and whether it was a new board or a refurbished one?I took my 2015 S85D to Tesla service for warranty repair for a black touchscreen. Instead of replacing the MCU with a refurbished one, they ordered a Tegra daughterboard. This being a newly serviceable part, they did not know when they would be available. They were able to restore files on my original MCU and get it running again.
I worry that it will stop working while I am on a road trip, and I will sleep much better after the Tegra daughterboard is replaced. Does anyone have any info on when they will be available at Tesla service centers?
Thanks,
GSP

Im having the same consumption problem. But it started happening after a software update. Is this another sign the MCU is going or a true software problem??Is this a sign of EMMC failure? I've already had one incident of a black screen/non-responsive touchscreen described earlier here about a month ago. It's been fine since.
But I just took a 300 mile trip yesterday, and I noticed two things. On the "consumption" graph on the MCU, the estimated remaining range, if over 100 miles read: 10— but when it dropped below 100, it read correctly. Also, last night on the main UI screen, a couple of the buttons (the pop the frunk and one or two others) looked like chinese characters. But when I got in the car today, they were fine.
I guess what I'm asking is, what is the criteria the SCs use to trigger an MCU replacement under warranty? How bad does it have to get? I'd hate to get stranded somewhere.
Geez that's fast...
