Apparently there will be 8 Superchargers at Crawley, in addition to the Pease Pottage site, that's according to the mobile service engineer who paid me a visit today.

Wow - that would be very strange. That's a lot of density for a relatively out of the way place when it comes to long distance travel. You would think they would add one along the M25 or along the channel tunnel/Dover stretch vs having a ton on the way to Brighton!

The Crawley Service Centre is within spitting distance of the UK's second busiest airport, Gatwick - which is a terminus for many long distance drives, so these will be very helpful for those travelling long distances to the airport, or who need a decent charge after leaving the long stay airport car park.

Unfortunately I think it also means that all of the taxi drivers with unlimited free supercharging will be hogging all of the supercharger spots!
what taxi company do you use that are Teslas????
at the end of the day there is still going to be the idle charge which will stop them just from parking up?

Agreed, this is good for the airport and Crawley town, but its not a good location for M23 commutersout of the way place? !!

Airport Cars based at gatwick, they have quite a few Teslas, mainly model S I believe

More progress on site. There was an empty transporter parked up outside and five new (no plates) cars pared out front. Three Model 3 Performance and 2 S Performance. (loaners maybe?). There was also a Model S mobile service car there too. Looked like a bunch of guys in the garage bit too. Still no chargers on the front stands nor sign of any Superchargers anywhere. Hard to tell how kitted out the showroom is too but it looks like the place could be open in a couple of weeks.
Its mostly the Gatwick Taxis - the official one that has the airport contract. They have a bunch of Model S and X in their fleet. One of the local firms, Roadrunner, also has them as well.

Excellent! Thank you for posting, I've moved by Brooklands appointment to Tuesday next week at the much closer Crawley, will see if that goes ahead.
Didnt bother with pictures this time, but popped over there yesterday, they hope to open Monday, as others pointed out they are taking appointments. All external barriers are down, plenty of Tesla's in the car park, destination chargers were being installed and the comment was "There will be superchargers, but not yet." I dont know who this individual was, and whether they know, but something to look out for.
