could be many reasons. either they can't pick up due to being out of town. even if you reject, i don't think you will be placed end of line. you will have longer wait but not like you ordered today.
Thanks for the support. My SA said he doesn’t know either how long the wait will be, and he has no idea which cars have or do not have HEPA. So clueless. He suggested I speak with delivery specialist and I plan to do so as soon as the SC opens.

I know Elon said HEPA will be a retrofit, but who knows when that will happen, what the cost will be, and the long wait to schedule it after thousands of other owners wanting it too, and the risk of the SC breaking something else during the install. On top of that I’m paying extra for a feature that is standard on July cars. I officially now know of three people in my circle that all received 228xxx VINs with HEPA last week. We all ordered 5/6-5/9 (well, one is a late April order). I am the last to get a VIN and I get a 217?!?! It should be in the 230s and fresh off the assembly lime for my extra wait. Sorry, still too worked up and ranting.

If I reject it, does it start me over as if I ordered today? Well, maybe another couple of months will net me 4680.

The wait has been excruciating but I also feel cheated out of a feature that was just introduced this month. Our previous Model S had HEPA and this was one more thing that wasn’t “missing” from the S. Sigh.

I need to contact my SA and look at my options because as it sits I know I’m going to resent this VIN.
I lease don’t really care for a HEPA

yeah.. talk to him about HEPA filter and if they offer free retrofit when it's available. If you really care about HEPA you should wait. Verbal promises never work.

Mine is still 7/24-8/13 😬 two days away and still no VIN
I ordered a MYP back in June. I had a VIN and scheduled pickup, then they took it away. Something about logistics diverting it to someone else or something. Said they are expediting a build for me, but EDD 8/5 - 8/20. This was 3 days ago and still no new VIN.
Essentially, being assigned a VIN for those 10 days set me back 3-4 weeks.

This seems to be a more frequent problem, so even after you schedule delivery don't assume you'll get the car on that day.

Can't wait for the other manufacturers to catch up and give Tesla some competition so they're forced to focus on customer satisfaction.

Lol dude I ordered back in May and was told 3-5 weeks. I am assuming absolutely nothing.

Same situation here. It was showing October for a few days and now July 24 - Aug 9. I've had this 2-day-away EDD before and just saw it slip each day. I think I've reached the acceptance phase where I've stopped trying to make sense of it. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the silver lining, but now I’m also paranoid about why someone else rejected this VIN.
Its not certain that it was "rejected" it could have been a financing/trade issue the killed the deal or the person never responded to the pickup before the window expired. There are a lot of reasons that it could end up in your hands and only one of them is "there was something so wrong that I said no" ...so don't get to in your head about it till you see the car

I would not be too concerned. It's likely to be a person who could not take delivery for financial or reasons other than quality.
True. I am waiting for SC to open so I can speak to a delivery specialist. I need a few more details before making a final decision to accept or not. A VIN of 217xxx is pretty old by now. I am curious what the mileage is. Not the end of the world obviously but takes the excitement out of getting a VIN and replaces it with anxiety.

True. It is scheduled for Monday home delivery. Can you still reject a home delivery once it arrives? If they park it in your driveway, and box your other car in, how soon will they come and move the Y if I reject it? How does that work? Plus I can’t really inspect interior until after accepting the car, right? But I guess that last point applies too if it’s a VIN I was excited about.

@digitalboi and @und2000 I just want to jinx you two, but I feel like we haven't been seeing you two post as much since you both got your new VIN, which probably means that they haven't been taken away.....yet. :p

I do apologize I don't know why I am like this, I am looking forward to seeing you both take delivery. Tesla really did drag you through the mud on these orders. And I will take full blame if I did really jinx either one of you two.

Good news for those who ordered mid-May with an expected delivery date of October in SoCal.

The EDD is kept as October for 6 days Today.
I visited the Tesla Center yesterday, which is two minutes away from my house.
And I asked the staff about my expected delivery date.
He asked for my phone number and looked up something on his laptop.
He told me that my car will leave the factory on July 31st and arrive here on August 1st.
I couldn't believe what he was saying, so I asked him to show me the laptop screen, then he kindly showed it to me.
I want to record this so I asked if I could take a picture of his laptop screen, but he declined.

If your Tesla center is close to home, you might want to visit it and ask about estimated delivery dates.

Anyway, hope for those who ordered in mid-May!!
