Why are you so cynical ? 😂
So far I don't know why I should not to believe my SA.
In the middle of April she said they expect transport in second week of May.
Went to my SC on wednesday - there were about 40 MYs what confirmed what other
guy from here heard from his SA that SC in our area got transports from Fremont.
I went there yesterday after dusk, there were about 20 more Ys, mostly white.
When I called SC on Wednesday guy who pickup the phone, checked our RN and said they have the car at the lot waiting for inspection.

I think the implication is "yes".

I choose to believe my SA when he tells me what I want to hear, which he does frequently.

But I'll believe it for real when I'm sitting in my new car.
I highly doubt that your SA can really do anything to accelerate delivery and they probably have no control over when a vehicle/VIN is assigned to you. I only called once to make sure that nothing on my part is holding up VIN assignment/delivery and I was told that everything on my part is done and all we are waiting is for the VIN to be assigned to me. Haven't called or e-mailed since.. I would like the car before June 20 but it's not the end of the world if it's a couple days later.. I'm "hoping" for early June but that may be wishful thinking.. Early June was the SA's estimate that helped me when I did my test drive... Estimated delivery has shown 5 - 9 weeks for a week now..

My SA was “honest” about the firmware delay and said my Y is at the service center and once the firmware is updated, I can take delivery. He also said, I think honestly, “it could be tomorrow, or it could be a month from now. No one has any idea on my side…”

So far, my car has been sitting there waiting for me for 4 days…

This sounds a lot more likely. I have heard about a lot of Model Y cars just sitting at service centers. My SA told me that I should be hearing in roughly 1-2 weeks regarding your VIN assignment; however, this can be incorrect due to the recent increase in demand.

Ordered 04/07 - MYLR white/white 19 - SoCal

Delivery date changes for the last week:

5/10: May 12 - May 30
5/11: May 13 - May 30
5/12: May 14 - May 31
5/13: May 15 - May 31
5/14: May 16 - May 31
5/14: May 31! - Jun 20! ( checked midday )
5/15: May 31 - Jun 20

Called SA emailed order support got the same lines no real answers.

I told them that I am worried about the chip swapping that is causing the homologation process (if the rumors are true).

We build electronics @ my business and if we have to source new chips they are NEVER better chips... they are always chips we passed on before but now we can't pass on them so we need to rewrite things to make them work with the more limited silicone. This is what bothers me more than the wait times honestly. Am I going to be getting the same car I test drove? Neither SA nor OrderSupport would discuss anything on this topic. OrderSupport didn't acknowledge it in their reply and my SA changed the topic.

Not really much we can do but wait and see.

Neither AnndyBo or I were talking to Sales Advisors at the Schaumburg Service Center. We're talking to delivery specialists, who have been upfront about what they know and what they don't know. In our area at least, when you call the Service Center, you can select Option #4 to reach a delivery specialist, rather than a Sales Advisor.

I think it all depends of location and of people who work there. I own already Model S and never had problem with Schaumburg Tesla, very honest, friendly and helpfull people.

My guess is they don't know and only the engineers at Tesla know what sacrifices were made if any with this new chip. Maybe the new chip was more expensive or harder to integrate into their existing software when they were originally sourcing chips.

Sorry, why does anyone think chips changed on 3 or Y? It’s the intel Atom. Maybe I missed something…

FWIW (not much) the DEM just insisted to me that the firmware issue is effecting Ys “on the ground”. I will have to check with homologation guy again. It just seems weird if some Ys are still being delivered. VINs could also clearly still be assigned.

VINs ARE assigned to vehicles and put on them during building phase. But like a normal car, it’s possible to not associate the VIN with an owner until much later…now how Tesla usually operates, but they’re predictably unpredictable.

I think some of these Ys being delivered right now could be pulled in for a mandatory firmware update. The specialist I talked to made it seem like this firmware update and approval needed to be done at the SC and couldn't be OTA. Curious about how it affects Ys recently delivered.

Not a lot of clear and/or detailed info about the semiconductor shortage (like what controllers/chips were affected) and how Tesla specifically managed it, but this is what people are referencing I think: This Is Why Tesla Hasn't Been Affected By The Global Chip Shortage

Pretty soon there will be a huge number of VINs and deliveries. I think people who ordered in March/early April are being most affected by the delays and have cars that are ready but just don't know it yet because of the "issue". People who ordered after that will just go through the natural progression because the issue will be fixed.

I ordered mine 4/8, MY LR, and the delivery date disappeared about 2 weeks ago. Anyone else have this issue. I’m ready and financed. Tesla rep didn’t have an explanation?
Same—been about two weeks since I’ve had an estimated delivery date. Prior to disappearing, it was May 14 - June 2. I’m taking delivery in Houston. Ordered LR white/white, 19in wheels, 7 seater w/tow+FSD. Ordered in 4/12. No VIN yet
