I am acccessing Tesla’s website through my cell phone to check my EDD (only like 20 times each day). When I finally get a VIN does it just appear once I refresh the page in the same place where the EDD is shown? Or where would I find it once they assign it?

Yes, it will just appear right below your reservation number and above your EDD on the account page.

I think everyone in our area got October yesterday. I placed my order on May 1 and by now I have a feeling those EDDs mean nothing

I’m in Canada and I was always July but it suddenly moved to October yesterday. Now I’m back to July 15 to Aug 3. October is definitely some sort of default place holder when the system Is waiting for new dates to be assigned.

Even though I think EDD means nothing, I'll throw in my dates. Since the end of June I was at July 24th-August 13th. Yesterday it changed to August 16th - September 3rd. Today it is July 16th - August 2nd.

I have no clue. It'll happen when it happens.

Appears my EDD is back to slipping by 1-day each morning to maintain the 3-day buffer. Now showing June 14-26. Still waiting for a VIN...

Not sure if this is good news. I ordered May 8 and completed profile immediately including financing through Tesla.

In the ensuing 60 days through last week, the dates were all over the place including 10 solid days at September.

Early last week it changed to 7Jul-21Jul, then 10Jul-28Jul. For the past four days it has gone up by one day each day and we’re now at 14Jul -21Jul.

Is this normal, are we getting closer or should I just ignore the whole thing? I’ve also got vacation coming up at the end of the month so timing is everything.

Does anyone know when Tesla typically assign VIN's? Is it once a car has cleared production they assign or is it at some other stage?

Mine just updated to 9/10-9/30. So it’s changing everyday. The dates mean nothing . But I guess better than October at least, until it changes back to October again lol.

Lol yep meaningless mine has changed back and fourth literally 3 times this week: 2 weeks up, then 3 weeks back, now 2 weeks up again! Hilarious

Same here with slightly different dates. Converging dates does give hope that something is happening. However most of us April/May orders also seen this happen in June so there is some doubt about the accuracy and overall realism of the EDD itself.

What you want to see is a VIN. Once assigned my understanding is that West Coast orders (typically) are delivered within a few days pending logistics availability.

I'm 7/13-8/2 today (was 7/13-8/1 yesterday). So encouraging April/May folks starting to get their VINs! Gonna be refreshing my email all day today haha

I'll have to second that. I ordered my MY 2/23 of this year. Completed my profile on 6/15. My SA seemed to think I would be pushed up the line but clearly I didn't. I'm still looking at a Sept date for possible delivery.

That is slightly different since you didn’t complete profile vs completing everything, getting a VIN, and deciding to put on hold.

Two changes in two days, both forward (earlier). Now @ 7/30-8/19, 6 days earlier on both ends of the range. Oh, the games they play!

Typically they give you a 3 day range.

There's some flexibility. Once you have a VIN and the car is ready for pickup/dropoff.

Can someone explain the sequence of payments to me? I understand to order I'll be charged a $100 ordering fee. At delivery I'll have to make full payment. Are there any mandatory or interim or down payments in between, and if so, what is the trigger for them?

Once a VIN is assigned, Tesla begins to nag you for final payment. Some people wait until they see the car at the delivery point before they EFT the final payment, which can be done via Plaid (their electronic payment service of choice) or by standard ACH using your bank account number and your bank's routing number.

I believe they go off of the date you take your car off hold and complete all of your pre delivery tasks.
