Only the front ports have data connections, rear are power only

So you loose one of your front charge ports for this usb setup. Need to test and see if a data / power usb splitter would work. Something like this:

Too bad since I would rather keep the front ports for charging my phones especially since they are already being used with my new Nomad wireless charging pad and then sticking a tiny USB flash drive to the back ports for this purpose. Something like this:

I don't think people will be totally happy with it...

I think that few would have been expecting any fancy features. Forward camera footage will cover the key cases.

I find on the S, using a high powered USB charger that plugs into the 12v provides a much faster charge rate.

I've got that exact power/data splitter ready to go for when my M3 comes in so I could use a USB key for music without losing a front port for power.

I had hoped I could use the same key for the dashcam, but apparently not so I'll need another splitter.

Yes it does. You just have to work a little to route the cables from the 12v outlet to the phone dock location.

There's a 12v outlet in the center compartment. It definitely charges a lot faster than the front usb ports.

As per the latest AP info from @verygreen, technically you could also attach an SSD to the AP2.5 USB-C port? I wonder if this will be the final solution, but it will require a Service Center visit.
