$500 price increase overnight.
This cuts down on the amount of upgrades you can do to your order and still meet tax credit MSRP limits. Now you can only add a single option of paint color (blue, grey or black...no red), white interior or tow hitch.
No change to CAD price. No change to MYP price.

Tesla honors old prices you ordered as long as you don't change the configuration. If they drop prices before delivery, they also give you the updated lower price.
They still honour the price even if you change configuration. When I made a change from MSM to DBM my base price didn't change even though Tesla had raised prices three times since I'd ordered. They had also increased the delivery fees and they still honoured my original delivery fee. Of course I had to pay the extra $1300 for DBM over MSM but that was it.

Yeah saw that. Tesla Has enough orders now for next couple of months so trying to make every single $ they can make, can't blame them, they are public company amwith singular goal to make money.

One thing is for sure, price is unlikely go more than $55k for LR since that would disqualify them from Tax credit.

The more I think about this the more I just scratch my head...what was the point of a $500 increase? I guess it limited the number of configs that will qualify for the tax credit so maybe that will make it easier on Tesla to just run long production runs of those configs? I don't know? Maybe just a signal that the price isn't going to be stable...scare more people into ordering??

I wonder, if you have an order in, does your price go up with it? (I ordered earlier today)
Your locked in the price if you placed a deposit.
Don’t forget Maserati that depreciates 50% or more only after 3 years. A physician I work with bought a Quattroporte, paid $110k for it, after 2 years he was trying to trade it in for a Ferrari, the dealer was going to give him a trade in price of 60-65k, couldn’t remember since it was about 10 years ago. But looking at that, that’s a 40% price reduction and only after 2 years.
it goes same for BMW’s too. I purchased a 208 BMW M4 convertible in summer of 2019 for $67.5 k with 4K miles with all options including carbon fiber bits minus ceramic brakes. The previous user traded it for a Ferrari. Now the M4 price with my options was about $110k new. All cars take a loss as soon as you leave the Stealership. It your choice to sell or pay that price amount.

It's to make more money. Simple.

Tesla has enough orders for next several weeks. So they will squeeze every single $.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go up another $500. And in Match, lower it back to $53k. For now it seems like they will dance between $53k and $55k.

Not surprising. They dropped pricing dramatically, got some buzz, now increase it a bit to collect some profits off the demand. May even “tease” a future price bump if people are still buying.

They need to do this to build in a buffer for end of quarter incentives.

Looking forward to hearing people who buy today complain in 2 months that they deserve a price refund.

With today's price hike of $500, if you order red multi-coat your list price now goes over $55K, so no tax rebate to you.

Tesla is showing us they can, and hinting at continued price increases. This will stimulate sales for a new and different reason: worry about more coming price increases, so better buy now. However I suspect a max base price of $54,990 just to keep under the tax rebate qualification ceiling of $55K.

Or not. When they cross that barrier, back to plan B: order the 7 seat version and just leave the back row folded down.

They’re is always somebody to complain if they lower or raise prices. But no one complains on why the Eggs are over $5 a dozen.

Thanks. There were also a couple of price changes last December when they cut the price by $3750 and then by $7500, plus adding 10K SC miles.

It's the MSRP that applies to your order, set by Tesla at the time of order.
The IRS' own website does not clearly articulate when or how the MSRP will be determined. Just sayin I'm not taking any chances on getting burned by a technicality.
