Congrats to those who are getting their Tesla delivered on or before Feb 28 and may get full IRS tax benefit. Nice score!

I do not want to beat the dead horse again (sorry if it is off-topic). Lot of discussion around the potential IRS tax credit. Current guideline is only in effect until "March". We do not know what date - it is possible that the IRS can come on Feb 28 with new guideline, which may or may not reduce the full tax credit, or come up with some wired formula, that will increase/decrease/no credit - anything is possible. Or any date in March or later - who knows when, only IRS knows, maybe.

So, for those of us who are not getting the vehicle in Feb - we can just keep our fingers crossed and hope and pray, pray, pray :).

One thing I heard - I think I read somewhere here that even if IRS comes with new guidelines in March, they usually give 60 days for public comments before anything takes into effect? Is this true - if yes, does this mean that folks who may get their cars in Apr/May still 'have a chance' to get the credit?

What's coming in March is a "notice of proposed rulemaking" and not the actual rule. That said, some seem to think that the issuance of the proposed rule will cause the battery sourcing requirements to go into effect. That seems odd to me but our government does odd things. Of course if Tesla's non-LFP offerings will meet the requirements then it becomes moot.

Anyone in the Seattle/PNW area have updates on their VIN or OD? I'm feeling like we're always a bit behind for some reason. OD 1/16 MYLR
MSM/Blk/19/Tow with no vin yet, EED Mar 1-29 :(.
Nope
OOD and registration 1/18

W/W no other options
EDD updated (pushed out) 3/11-3/31
Delivery to Spokane Tesla center.

No VIN, or statement that VIN is coming soon. No changes to order.
Hoping for a VIN soon.

I should stop reading the "HOT" topics especially delivered car defects thread.
Hoping to get a "Good" MYLR when it does arrive .

ps. Any PNW MYLR new recipients know which rear motor the LR was delivered with?

My sales advisor would only tell me "January". After delivery (on the door post) I found out it was 1/23. I was assigned the VIN on 1/28, so 5 days after. That was on a 1/13 OD, so there was less of a backlog then as it was the day after the 20% price cut was announced. So a good guestimate (if your SA is unhelpful like mine was), might be a week prior to your VIN assignment. YMMV.
The day I received my vin (on Feb 16) was the build date also.

If on the pickup day there is rain how would you inspect the vehicle? Assuming it is all outdoor in NJ.
I went with my friend to pick up his MY in late-January when it was raining in NJ. We noticed some issues and ultimately the Tesla reps said to just submit a Service in the Tesla app so a date/time can be scheduled for them to resolve all the issues mentioned.

They'll have a paper floor mat on the driver's side so maybe ask for a few more so you can place them on the passenger and back side. Take an umbrella + wear appropriate clothing for the weather and inspect the car for any large panel gaps that are noticeable. Unfortunately it's harder to spot scratches in the rain but they give you a 24-hour window from delivery date/time (car also has to have less than 100 miles driven iirc) to create a Service in the Tesla app for any issues you find. You can still do the basic checklist such as making sure frunk, trunk, doors, etc open/close properly.

One upside to the unfortunate rain is that you can make sure there's no water leakage when sitting in the car. Since you'll also probably want to sit inside due to the rain, you can also spend some more time inspecting the interior and then exploring/adjusting the Tesla software settings.
