does anyone know where the fm antenna amplifier is?

Like you said the internet isn't always right. If I was a Tesla engineer that would be the one of the parts I'd get rid of as unnecessarily complicating assembly. I'd have the tuner changed to include an RF amplifier. I posted where to start looking if it exists. It's probably in the same door pillar as the tuner further down.

the antenna is in the glass, right? the ebay listing says left rear for the amplifier and right rear for the radio unit...has anyone taken off the driver side c-pillar cover to see what's under there?

And even though it's an old thread, just to close out the phantom, the OP was chasing a non-existent part (for the Model 3). Oh, it exists, but it's for the Model S. From his Tesla Parts catalog link, up on top, the breadcrumb header:

My thoughts would be that it would be a close as possible to the antenna. It is to amplify a weak signal, not a signal coming out of a tuner which, due to the tuner, would be stronger but could have much poorer signal/noise ratio.

in the end it's a moot point now since i found antenna adapters that allowed me to tap into the actual radio unit, which we do know the location of (passenger c-pillar)

Also seems like there is an antenna connection passenger side footwell I will check tomorrow on this.

I know this is an old thread, but since it’s been bumped and the original question seems to be unanswered, the FM amplifier is behind the side rail trim on the driver side of the car.

I probably don’t it’s just for the xm receiver.
