The journo’s claim was accurate. The fact he didn’t have one of many potential examples at hand only means he wasn’t prepared. It doesn’t mean he was wrong, or, as Musk claimed, going even further, that he was lying.
Watch the interview. The journalist changed his tune from " I've personally seen hate speech on the rise" to " I haven't looked at the feed for 6 months".

Musk didnt say "you just lied" about hate speech increasing but about the BS the journalist was spewing regarding how he experienced twitter and hate speech. The journalist obviously just parroted what others are saying but he stated it was his own experience without thinking Elon would respond to that part of his segue.

Elon called him out. And the squirming of the BBC guy exposed him to be full of it. He was stuck in a corner. Just be sincere and not have an agenda and that can't happen to you .

A journalist was working on this and probably gave Elon an expectation. Don't confuse "impossibly optimistic" with intentional lying.
And you believe this because? Is there no circumstance where you won't give him a pass?

It's been over 4 months since his "later this week." The likelihood that some journalist told him that is now diminishingly small. There never were any "Fauci files," or they are a big nothingburger and he's too embarrassed to publish them. Either way, he pulled "this week" out of his backside. Your scenario that someone told him they were days from publishing a major exposé is at this late date fanciful at best. And if he were misinformed, and if he were honest, he could just say so. But he hasn't. In my world, that's a dishonest person.

What do you call it when someone promotes the "impossible" (your term) as fact?

Lying or just plain wrong?
  • Funding secured
  • Robo-taxis
  • Vision cameras only
  • Pedo
  • Pelosi
  • COVID going away in “April”
  • Emerald mines
  • Horse for flight attendant
  • Yoel Roth sympathetic to pedophilia
  • Taibbi employed at Substack
What is it when you keep making the same kind of mistake over and over again, and you are unable learn from it?

You must be joking. He completely lied about the Elonjet "stalking" incident. It had nothing to do with his jet tracking and everything to do with an obsessed Grimes stalker.
Which he did not know at that time, so his first suspicion was tracking somehow contributed to this incident.

Nevertheless for someone who is in the cross-hairs of high and mighty, businessmen, politicians, and whole country and its armies and probably millions of extreme left loonies who would probably do a victory dance if he is eliminated, there is nothing wrong if he takes all the precautions to reduce the chance of a physical attack.

Did anyone else notice that the great "Twitter Files" kraken kinda turned into a nothing-burger, where what Elon released was mostly evidence that Twitter had attempted to use a fairly even hand with extremists of many kinds, had responded to requests from the government to take things down in a similar manner across both recent administrations, and now Elon is saying he wants to wrap it up having shown not-much, and prefers to change the topic to a vague claim that the government had "access to people's DM's" which I will bet money was only done under warrant.
And once it turned out that way, Elon said something like Twitter files are behind us now.

Well, his first clue should have been that his son was not in a jet at the time.

It turns out that jets are completely different from cars.

Elon says things that are factual incorrect, but is he either doing that purposely or just being impulsive? Motivation is the measure of whether someone is lying or that they are just wrong.
He takes things that aren't even remotely likely, and any intelligent person including him, knows it. Things he has no reason to believe. Then he chooses to say them anyway. That is intent.

More than a handful so far, here's an excellent score keeper for Musk statements aka "Elons" @phantasms

Elon Musk Today
Like Donald Trump, But For Nerds

Example:

Waiting on the Content Moderation Council

[Link]
  • 171 days since Elon Musk promised Twitter would not reinstate banned accounts without first creating a diverse content moderation council. (10/28/2022)
  • 149 days since Elon Musk reinstated Trump's banned account without establishing any sort of content moderation council. (11/19/2022)
"Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints. No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes."Elon Musk in a Tweet

Which he did not know at that time

Possibly the most followed guy on twitter, with near infinite resources, should take a few minutes to actually learn the facts and details of a thing before he comments on them to 100+ million people? Especially when he's so often amplified what turned out to be....less than accurate claims... in the past by not doing so?

Just a thought.
