Final Day of Q3 Deliveries

I was suppose to be flying to Chicago to get mine but Tesla screwed up so mine will be delivered late, still getting the 24 month lease though.

Congrats to everyone getting a car today, those delivery specialists must be losing their minds.

Should be a heroic effort by Tesla employees at delivery centers all around the country - if you are picking up a Model S or X today, please post a photo and comment about the general level excitement/chaos. Thanks!
Yeah, they are really trying hard to delivery as many vehicles as possible. Ours shipped from Atlanta to Dallas yesterday evening and they called us and delivered it to us at 10pm yesterday night. Even after such a long work week and day for them, our DA was so patient and explained us all the features for about an hour without hurrying up. Kudos to Telsa service. This is what keeps Tesla way ahead of any other dealerships.

Pickup up a new S75 on Monday at Costa Mesa..........it is the second largest delivery center next to Fremont. They have been averaging 20-40 cars per day 7 days a week. That will probably change soon. The lease prices are already back to normal on the inventory list.

I know this is going to sound like I'm nitpicking, but as a new owner you need to understand something. Tesla is a manufacturer. They have sales/service centers and show rooms. They don't use franchised dealerships. This sales model helps make Tesla successful, and provides customers with a choice in a free market.

Tesla is currently under attack from dealer associations and their lobbyists in an effort to stop Tesla and to protect their monopolies. When tesla owners use the word "dealership" when they really mean "sales center", it hurts Tesla's position, which as an owner, I'm sure you don't wish to do.

I just sat in a dealer service waiting room today for an inspection on my car. I watched 20-30 people get serviced. The sales department sold one car (I know one of the sales folks) and it is the last day of the month and quarter in a large shop. Dozens of people work there. Dealerships rely on money from service. EVs are poor money-makers for service. For me, I had to replace my rear disk brake rotors to pass state inspection. Why? They don't get used and built up appreciable rust on them - too much to pass inspection. So, I replaced two rotors at 73,000 miles in my EV due to lack of use. I know physical brakes will never "go away" and as such, will still need some service as does brake fluid on some EVs to freshen it, battery fluid to freshen it and so on. But you can drive 100,000 miles in a BEV, skip some of those fluid changes and generally be "safe" and ok if you finally get around to it. Try to go 100,000 miles in an ICE without oil changes every 5-10k miles, one radiator fluid change, etc. 20 oil changes in a 100,000 four year window. That is 20-hours or more of time wasted. Fleet managed Car-share with BEV configurations does look promising even if owners give up their freedoms to share others' cars. And then owning BEVs or EREVs will come next. But only after the dealerships turn over and start to support the EV fleets coming.

We don't want to pay too much for service (hence buying an EV). Dealers want to make money on service. Hmmm - how does this play out...

I just read about the Honda Accord Hybrid (not plug-in) for 2017. 49 mpg combined, 47 mpg highway, under $30k. Problem is, it is imported from Japan. Would like to see them made in the USA. Would consumers think that these kind of numbers are good enough and for them - should gas prices go up to $5/gallon - how many choose this kind of thing over a BEV or EREV?

Looks like Nissan is going to merge with Mitsubishi - they have had good results with their Outlander PiHV CUV. So, there will be more consumer choice as time goes by. That helps with the costs of scale across the EV landscape. It all looks like "something" is happening out there.

Good for Tesla to have a record quarter in terms of sales numbers. I just hope all buyers will be putting on a good 20,000 miles a year on them and really "BEV'ing it up" and not just keeping them pretty in the garage and babying them for 5k a year or 10k to keep below the lease limits. To me, selling the CPOs to lower-income folks who need a daily driver is just as important as selling new units. Getting butts in seats of EVs is important.

Ordered on 9/6.
Production completed on 9/15 or so.
Transition completed on 9/19 or so.
Found out that there was email issue so my trade-in didn't get through, which delayed my delivery by a week.

Just picked up my S 60 in this morning @ Bellevue, WA, location. I couldn't take a pic because I had to bring my sick kid.

I think I was one of the first customers who took the delivery today so the plaza wasn't busy at all. I only saw a few people doing the test driving, no one else taking the delivery. There were a few cars ready for the delivery though.

My car was in great shape mostly. The driver side door was a bit misaligned so they will fix it for me. Other than that, I haven't found much issue. Delivery experience was pretty good and quick. It was less "excitement" from DS than I thought or I've been hearing, which was good because I don't like people being hyped up - I am not good at reacting to it. Driving out my car out of the garage was really cool.

Driving to work was very exciting even though it was very short distance from the plaza to work. v8.0 hasn't been installed so I have to do it tonight (notification is up). It's been 14.5 years since I got so excited about driving a car.

Now I can't concentrate at work - I am writing right now so I can guess it.

Sept 30: Just picked up my "new inventory" S 90D in Paramus NJ that I ordered 1 week ago.

There was a traffic jam of Teslas leaving the dealership garage. No problems with defects which I was very apprehensive about after reading all the problems people had here (two little dents in aluminum indoor door trim where your elbow rests but I let it go). After the tutorial I just singed 5 times (Financed it at 1.5%) and just left with the car. Kind of spooky. I don't even know where/when/how I am supposed to send the money yet.

Driving home in rainy 10 MPH traffic was great with adaptive cruise control. Stopped at Shake Shack for a burger to let traffic die down and parked in the far side of the parking lot. 2 minutes later a car parked next to me crookedly 1 foot away. I moved the car to the other far side of the parking lot where no cars were parked and 2 minutes later someone else had to park right next to me despite the multitude of better spaces available. Its a car magnet.

Even though I had to settle for a "slower" model it is still much faster than my Infinity FX50 with 5.0L 400HP V8. I can feel the weight of my eardrums moving towards the back of my head under acceleration even in the rain.

Very happy camper so far.

Anyone still waiting for delivery. i ordered mine on 09/18 ,suppose to get deliver today but car is not here yet.

I'm still waiting... ordered on 9/20. My car is in the northeast, I'm in CA.

I was originally expecting delivery and a 24m lease in October, then got told that I had to sign for the car by 9/30 then wait for it to arrive, and now I've been told that they'll honor the 24m terms/discounts whenever the car actually arrives.

A 90D a slower model? I took delivery of my 75 today and found the acceleration quite nice. But I'm an old gizzer approaching 70, so any 0-60 under 6 seconds is pretty quick to me. Hell, I might even cancel my M3 reservation. Cheers!

I saw this and had the same reaction. I think maybe we get a little jaded hearing P90/P100 performance numbers but the S90 is a FAST car. 0-60 in 4.2 seconds matches the BMW M5, and the instantly available torque will make it feel even quicker off the line. (And the S60/75 accelerates quickly as well.)

So far I am really enjoying my new 90D but I am little concerned that I did not see or receive any paper work concerning how/when to pay the payments for the loan (advertised as 1.5% for 72 months).

I also have not yet seen / signed the terms of the loan agreement as far as I can tell.

Does anyone have any insight about how the financing works?
