There is also the matter of China and to a lesser extent S Korea. Where Teslas can be shipped and delivered in Q2 to both make numbers and not cross the 200kth threshold in the USA.
Yes, but the only places showing earlier delivery say "late May" and are RHD, that is not much earlier, actually.

Was EMT recently pulled forward by two months? Isn't the usual delay "3 months maybe; 6 months definitely?" Must have missed the daylight adjustment.
EMT is highly non-linear and depend on your perspective, it's like approaching the event horizon of a black hole. From an outsider perspective it seems that the closer you get to the event horizon the slower you go, and you never get there. But if you're inside of the vehicle approaching the black hole, you may not perceive any time dilation at all while crossing the event horizon.

Only in Tesla World does one require some knowledge of astrophysics to interpret "...100% certain it will be by end of 2nd quarter"

Nearly a 4% rise on no news whatsoever (that I can see). Anyone else?

This may be more appropriate for the market action thread, but I'll follow up with this Benzinga headline from a half hour after the market opening.

Tesla Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) - Tesla Shares Unaffected Following Comment From New York Fed Pres Bill Dudley Highlighting Data On Puerto Rico Showing Its 'Time to start from scratch rebuilding power infrastructure'

EDIT: And this from the Wall Street Journal at noon EST:

Tesla Begins Taking Model 3 Orders From First-Time Reservation Holders

Lets play a game of what the short fudsters will say about this:

Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster Could Crash Back Into Earth

MS would say, you have a better chance of being hit by this roadster then a model 3.

MBS would say, Fraud boys cars are dangerous to humans even when you shoot them to mars.

Other Shorts: In about 1.5 million years, Tesla will finally deliver your car, but there is still only a very small chance.

Chance for a whole new Planet of the Apes:)

Via the Fidelity feed:

Tesla Inc. (TSLA) for the first time is notifying some reservation holders new to the electric-car brand that they can begin configuring and ordering their Model 3 sedan.

The milestone suggests production of the vehicle at Tesla's assembly plant is picking up steam after a turbulent beginning in July. Previously, the Silicon Valley auto maker had limited opening orders to reservation holders who were employees or had been previous Tesla customers.

The Model 3 represents a key part of Chief Executive Elon Musk's strategy to remake Tesla from niche luxury-car company into a mainstream player that sells electric vehicles, solar panels and storage batteries.

Tesla confirmed a small group of customers are receiving notifications Thursday based on when they placed their reservations. The company traditionally has rolled out invitations in small groups and over time aligned them to production rates.

Tesla has received about 500,000 reservations for the Model 3 since revealing the sedan in 2016. The company expects that customers invited to complete their design will receive their cars about four weeks after placing their order.

Production on the Model 3 began in July last year, and Tesla has struggled to meet its ambitious goals.

In January, the company reported delivering about 1,600 Model 3 vehicles during the final three months of 2017 -- well below its goal of a build rate of 5,000 Model 3s on a weekly basis. Tesla pushed back that goal until the end of the first half. A rate of 5,000 vehicles a week would equal about 250,000 cars a year.

All quiet on the Model 3 forum. Hopefully we'll get some confirmation soon.

came across this interesting tweet:

Twitter

It appears to show a decent sized full parking lot of Model X/S. i don't know where this is exactly but there is a ship in the top left corner. Also they look like they all have the protective wrap on them.

to me this looks like a good boatload of cars going abroad by ship , maybe giving some credit to all the talk about not hitting the 200K treshold...
