glass roof - production change (July 2018)?

Now that we've had a nice dew morning I got some more pics.

Here is the original pic with factory tint:

And here is a couple pics after 50% aftermarket tint (llumar stratos):

So I believe there are no "half" IR red coatings, the full coating is just more obvious with aftermarket tint.

Nice! Can you post pics of your car’s tint without the dew/wetness? I’m probably going to be getting stratos as well but can’t decide how dark to go.

You said you went with 50% on the back window. How does it look from the inside? Is it one piece?

Thanks

Wonder if these cars had tint....and if they did...they would have to match the factory tint of the upper portion of the glass to make it seamless...right?

This one looks like it has tint...and looks seemless:

No tint on this one?

Are we now saying all cars come with only half of the back windshield with IR coating and those with full red IR coating are those people who have tinted windows?

GregRF explained it well in post #419. For cars with orange tinted rear glass roof panels, they are orange over the entire surface (both above the rear seats and the back window portion). Tinting the back window area darker to closer match the roof glass will make the orange more visible.

Here it is without the dew. 50% Stratos single piece on the rear, Pinnacle on the sides 50% front, 35% rear. Looks fine from the inside besides seeming to make the defroster lines more pronounced. Seems people have gotten 35% without it seeming too dark from inside, but I wanted to keep the difference between the back and top minimal. I think I would be happy with either.

Looks good, noob question: what's the diff between Stratos and Pinnacle tint? I was thinking about getting darker one for better heat rejection.
Product UV Protection Heat Rejection Glare Reduction
Stratos 70 99.5% 49% 21%
Stratos 50 99.5% 54% 37%
Stratos 40 99.5% 57% 52%
Stratos 35 99.5% 58% 56%
Stratos 30 99.5% 59% 63%
Stratos 15 99.5% 63% 80%

Nice. Does it still have a noticeable “line” where the factory tint starts/ends about halfway down the inside of the back glass? I wanted to figure out how to make it so it is not noticeable but I’m not sure that is possible unless they tinted the lower portion as dark as the factory and then the factory area with no tint all in one sheet haha.

I've seen a Model S locally right after the rain stopped that had that red sheen on the front window, the windshield. It was parked and I didn't run into the owner to ask about it but, being Houston, it's quite possible they had a 70%-90% rated film on the inside of the windshield. The 70% film probably isn't legal (because the combined translucency of the window + the aftermarket film will drop below 70%) but above that it is treated considered un-tinted and thus legal. Being a Southern location (Miami, and of course Honolulu, are the only major US cities further South than Houston, if you call San Antonio a tie).

Or is that something that's normally seen on the factory condition Model S, a red windshield when it's covered in water droplets?
