There is a delay in bluetooth on the Tesla - We have used bluetooth to do sound for various other devices like iPads to watch movies or other video and the audio delay is significant, not sure why - but makes it difficult to watch.
I think it would be a wiser idea to use a high power FM transmitter rather than bluetooth as bluetooth has a delay which is different every time you connect to it... you can't predict the delay... also you lose the ability to connect your phone
A high power FM transmitter would eliminate the lag as well as the issue not being able to connect your phone
and I mean high power because cheap ebay FM transmitters do not output enough power thus the low quality and static

Yes, this would be cool. I hate to switch between bluetooth devices while using both iPad and iPhone in the car...

The Model S’s FM also has a lag. My Christmas lights that I put up has an FM channel to tune to, and I always notice it looks out of sync on the Model S.

Does the model S not let you have a direct audio input like most cars? In my F150 and Subaru, I get much better sound quality if I play music through the cord. Movies don’t have audio lag when done this way as well.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. Not the aux in jack. On both my cars I use the usb connection to my iPhone. So the audio can’t play this way?

If a phone with VLC is used as a source, you can adjust the audio / video delay. Actually, some software to determine the delay from listening to sent audio vs audio picked up from the devices microphone shouldn't be impossible. VLC is open for implementing new features and this could gain a lot of users, not only in Teslas...
did another field test today. Played YouTube song with the audio sync-ed with Bluetooth, found delay in aux transmission ~100ms.
