iPhone Music Auto Playing

My iPhone has already been set to still lock screen wallpaper for a while now but the music still autoplays.
Same here I have always hated the perspective “moving “ wallpapers.
My phone doesn’t always do it. It’s almost always after I have been doing something like listening to an audio book or asking Siri something or maybe having just been on a voice call in the car. Then it starts the auto play thing.
If I just walk up to car from scratch and get in and do nothing else it won’t do it.
But I have “CarPlay” turned off and that seemed to have helped at least get me this far.

I think it’s a iOS 12 issue. besides this, 12 broke answering the phone on the car. When the car tries to answer the phone, a screen comes up on the phone asking me to select from a menu what speaker to send the sound to. Of course, the car can’t press the button. There are more things wrong with iOS 12 than I can begin to describe here.
Isn’t there an automatic selection in the phone settings to make that choice for you? Pretty certain.
I’ve been an Apple geek forever and mine is always making the correct choice on its own without my input.
Curious

This definitely seems to be an iOS issue and not a Tesla issue as I've had it happen on a number of rental cars. I am hoping it gets resolved in a future update and also that the CarPlay off option works in the mean time.

Same here, no matter what settings are set on the phone (iPhone XS) it will auto play. Totally frustrating and Apple ignore all my chats/requests to sort it, well don’t even bother entertaining a real response. We just need a setting on the phone to turn off AutoPlay, simple. A little toggle switch.....

Do you ever wonder if Elon himself or many of his software engineers that could affect this problem drive their cars to work daily (assuming they all have a Tesla) and don’t experience this problem themselves and get frustrated.
I guess I mean I get that all the bug reports might take forever to be sorted out and go through the channels to be a priority fix.
But if employees and maybe Elon himself have the same frustration would seem it might get a quicker fix.
I guess tho I’m making the assumption that those guys are even driving with the same versions we are. Maybe they have lots of Betas and versions they test regularly unlike the released version.
Sigh. Oh well

This was a new issue for me w/ v9 (among a long list of reasons (all UI) for why I really regret every single day allowing v9 to be installed). It did not happen prior to v9. This is a year old iPhone X w/ IOS 12.

And then there's the related issue of the audio source in v9 randomly changing so that the next time you get in it's trying to pick up an AM signal somewhere rather than play the Tune-in channel you normally listen to.

@quickstrike12, yep. Four or five years ago when you'd leave a voice note and get a call from an engineer or product person they'd sometimes say that they'd experienced it or if they didn't drive a Tesla they'd grab one and try it for themselves. However, many of them force themselves to use new stuff even when it's less convenient because 'it's the future'.

Hi, I have an iPhone 6. I have the same problem. Before I bought my MS I had an Mit PREV. There I had the same problem. So for me it is an Apple issue. No idea why some cars have these problems and other do not.

Try using a different music app on your phone, like pandora, to stream. And, press the pause button on the Tesla before you get out of the car.

That is what I do. Use different podcasts apps, I put them on pause AND I close them on the iphone. Next time I come to the car and the app opens and starts playing...even the none standard apple apps...they somehow get activated by the MCU or Tesla...

Having the same issue. Its been over a year now. I sold my iPhone 8+ for a Xr and it still launches my music when I enter the car. I contacted Apple they said it is a bluetooth issue with Tesla's firmware. Tesla Diagnostics spent weeks looking into it and they have no clue why it is happening. They also said it was not common. So for those of you who are just gritting your teeth and dealign with it, please contact Tesla Diagnostics. They do not feel the pressure to fix it since not many people are complaining about this issue. It is so annoying because it uses data and drains your iPhone battery quickly. For me, it sometimes launches when I just get close to the car. I turn it off and then use Siri or make a call and it starts itself again. It starts my apple music, podcast, even voice memos when I was not previously actively listening to an of those apps. I have tried EVERY work around. There is nothing we can do on our end. Tesla has to fix it. So here is the contact for Diagnostics. Mike Rodgers | Diagnostic Specialist p. (877) 798-3752 | [email protected]m
