Is your Cabin Overheat Protection coming on?

David being totally anal here I did phone screen captures throughout the 2 days when I was first researching the COP so can verify that the temperature cycles are pretty short. Generally took a screen shot when the info had changed. Had been curious what the cooling temp range would be and how long it took and how the car's range changed. Occasionally did screen captures of my watch showing the outside temp. Here's the numbers I captured on the first day when it was the hottest. The car was in the driveway (concrete) and that area sits in the full sun in the afternoon.

May 3, 90F outside:

Wow, that is a lot of data tabulation effort! Thanks!
So if I am interpreting the data correctly, the last time the system kicked on was at 5:38, when it cooled the car down to 101 or so. Then the car went back up to 103-104 and stayed there. The actuation temperature must be slightly above the indicated temp of 104. So the car could sit at a fairly high temperature (104) that is just shy of the 105 set-point for quite a long time, if the ambient conditions were correct, even while the system is active.
If the purpose of the feature is to avoid injury or death to a pet or human, I wonder how long a dog, cat, child, or elderly person would last at 104?

Actually, I think the system works at variable fan speeds to hold the temperature, and is running the entire time he's reporting the 103/104 temps.

I've noticed in my car the cabin overheat protection always uses the A/C to lower the temperature, but if I turn off COP the car only uses the fan to lower the temperature. (It's only 90 degrees outside today, so the fan by itself can successfully lower the temperature sufficiently just by sucking in 90 degree air). For obvious reasons, I prefer to have the car use just the fan rather than the A/C whenever possible. The problem is, with COP turned off the fan-based temperature control shuts off when the car goes to sleep. So my question is, has anyone observed COP operating only the fan, or does it always use the A/C even on cooler days?

It looks like it's working on our late 2012 S P85 - but not working on our new S 100D.

We had both parked outside in the sun most of the day last weekend - and I could hear the COH run periodically. When I checked the cars, the S P85 was not too hot inside - while the S 100D was noticeably much hotter.
