Well, it was happened it in my dreams last night! but, I think MX90D version got potential for more power. All Tesla have to do is unlock it through software upgrade. I love my MX 90D, and don't want to upgrade any time soon, but I wish to have a little more power. Of course Tesla doesn't want to get close to P90D territory, but 0.5 sec for 10 to 15K, I would imagine there are a lot of owners would consider that option! it's extra revenue for Tesla.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt there's much in software they could do to make a 90D quicker without the big ol' P motor in the back.

I'm just waiting for them to discount the ludicrous upgrade for p90d owners who didn't opt for the L upgrade during the purchase.

Nah, those 2 little basketball sized motors do well already to push around 5500+ pounds as fast as they do. Won't get anymore out of it 1) without more battery cells for more immediate voltage, and mainly 2) a larger performance motor in back.

The thing weight as much as a huge Chevy Tahoe so be happy we are as fast as we are now ;-)

Is that one software-only? I guess I'm asking if the fancy inconel fuse comes with all P, or only the PL battery packs.

Haven't you heard? All Teslas now come with 3D printer technology installed such that motors or any other hardware can be replaced via software upgrade.

[The website shows P models as having a bigger motor in the back, unless that has changed that anyone can confirm.]

I don't think some plastic is going to increase performance... Unless your suggesting the Printer head movement adds to the wheel spin, decreasing 0-60 speed times by .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 seconds

I wouldn't doubt Tesla. They do make hard plastics that might work. I can see how it is hard to believe. I just have a question as to whether the 3d printer is removable? We don't have one at home and it would be fun to play with. It might give us enough of a reason to upgrade to a Model X sooner.

What do you mean "is it removable"

Also, a 3D printer cannot autonomously create prints and assemble/fix them. There are cranks and such that printers can make in a few pieces, but in all seriousness there is no reason for those parts to be in a Tesla. There already are so few moving parts in the drivetrain. I doubt some plastic pieces can ever improve any performance. Sounds like a joke to me. If there's even space for a printer, and some "robot arms" to assemble pieces and fix the printer when it jams or something at the end of the day 3D printing is not beneficial in a tesla...

I know there can be some misconceptions in 3D printing. Just in case I want to let you know that 3D Printers cannot make "anything" like a working gun or computer or things like that.

Oh...darn you mass media. The media makes it sound like they can build just about anything. Prime example they use is someone using a 3D printer to "print" a working gun.

I'm going to guess that original post I responded to was a joke. Timx you fooled me and only 17 days before April Fools Day. Bravo :)

Isn't very logical, even if that's what the media posts as headlines.

Also, who knows. Timx too probably thought the same thing.

All 3D printers can do is print solid objects made of plastic. If your lucky sometimes in multiple colors.

Obviously it was a joke. Tesla wouldn't put a 3D printer in a car. We're just discussing how your logic of 3D printers is one of many misconceptions people should be educated about.
