How did you qualify for membership?
Yeah. I would normally pay mine down quicker when feasible to get it over with.... But with 1.89% I don't know how I would not justify doing something more productive than that.... Which means that I probably won't get away from my payments earlyMade my first of many payments to FPCU today. Yay car payments...

Be happy interest rate you got is still historically near record lows. You are getting a nearly interest free loan.
It wasn't all that long ago that auto interest rates were more like 10%. At that point you're just better off paying cash for the best vehicle you can afford.

The fine print says they won't lower the rate below 1.49%, but if you can get in and aren't already a member, this looks like a pretty nice deal.Fed Choice said:if you apply for an Auto Loan and/or a Signature Loan during your first 30 days of membership, we'll give you a 1.00% APR discount off our already low rates!
I have to admit that the Lightstream thing worked really out to be pretty easy. I ended up getting 1.89% for 72 months via their rate beat program. I sent them documentation and received confirmation of my new terms by morning. Most everything I did through them was very quick (application, rate beat, amount tweaks, acceptance and funding). I am supposed to have the money deposited into my account tomorrow for a Saturday delivery. I just emailed my ISA who changed me to cash. Tomorrow I will get a cashier's check from my bank and all should be good in the universe (knock on wood). I love no lien on insurance too.

FedChoice is impossible to qualify for unless you are a government employee (or contractor). They are very strict and there is no backdoor way in, so I wouldn’t even bother. I tried.
