So it’s just a stick on bracket can be removed later? The 4 screws are just for license plate correct?
Wow.. going to email my ISA right now.. I thought we had a choice when we got there.
I have been here over 4 hours now and after prodding an employee, I was told that my license plates aren’t here yet. He said there is a team of people going back and forth to the MTO (wherever that is) to pick up batches of plates. They have no clue when/if the plates will arrive. Horrible horrible delivery experience but thanks to other posts to setting my expectation for the disaster.
7+ hours later...I finally got to drive my car home in torrential rain and in darkness so had to be very careful. I was one of the last people to leave that place! Didn’t really get to “test” the car out due to the conditions. I could tell the accel is off the charts though! Steering wheel kept vibrating but I have since learned that it is due to lane departure warning.
Here are some tips for folks going to IC:
- Don’t bring your kids (unless they can be distracted for many hours) - I felt bad for those who had children there. I could see some tempers flare between parents with children.
- Talk to someone at the back with a laptop and ask them to check whether or not your license plates are physically there. If they are, your wait time will reduce dramatically. If not, you’re in for a long ride as this is the reason I had to wait so long.
- Pack a lot of food/drinks! They just have coffee and water.
- Front mounts were on all the cars I saw.
- You can inquire about the die cast car for first day reservation holders and if they may bring one to you from the back.
- For anyone doing a cable swap, it’s hard to do because of timing and after you finally get your car, you just want to book it out of there as opposed to waiting any longer. However, if timing works out OR you are okay waiting, the cables can be found in the center console in bags (they are not installed) so trading should take minutes once both parties have their cars.
- Be nice to the staff. It’s not their fault that the wait is so long. They were all very polite, apologetic and empathetic. The planning process (which I’m sure they were not part of) is where the problem is.
I hope everyone else’s delivery is far better than mine!

“Don’t bring your kid”, my almost high school kid insists to go with me today , because he is so interest to this high tech baby. I will not discourage him, as I hope one day that he become Tesla/Apple/Google employee after graduate from Waterloo.
My appointment was 3pm but I arrived 2:20pm. Waited until 4:30pm then was told they haven’t gotten my plates yet. 4:59pm told me they found the plates but can’t find my registration. Asked if I could go to mto by myself and get a replacement but closes at 5pm lol so obviously not today. Anyway they let me take it and for the trouble of having to pay for registration and delays they gave me a free year of service. Anyway finally got it around 6:20pm drove to detailer for opticoat. Super fun ride worth the wait!!
Thank you for the information. I'm bringing my wife and kid with me but I have no desire to let them wait hours there with me. I really wanted them to experience the delivery with me but i'll settle for getting a picture of the three of us in front of the car. I had framed the thank you note and the Model 3 sketch that I received after reserving and there's one spot left in the picture frame where we were going to put our delivery photo.7+ hours later...I finally got to drive my car home in torrential rain and in darkness so had to be very careful.
