$150 for a key fob for a car I just bought 30 days ago fr $60,000!!!! REALLY! I guess I can just keep trying my phone which only works about 25% of the time and only then if I turn the Bluetooth on and off while I am standing in the rain. Or I can use the cards which work fractionally better. C'mon Tesla (Elon) really are you that hard up for cash. Every car I have purchased in the last 20 years came with at least 2 fobs. My GMC truck came with three!!

Rain in California? Heck I'd purchase a fob if it caused rain.....

The key is only $40, the stupid box you throw in a landfill is $110...

Ahem.

Far be it for me to mention that I suspected this would be the case. To all you geniuses (not specifically directed at my Quote) that gave me a 'thumbs down' on my comment, I now remind you of your hubris.

Until next time.

Thanks for the information @OP! I was hoping the key fob would be free for existing owners but I won't plan to get one if it cost me money. I'm content with the keycard and phone key

Are they going to provide one for free or not? I wouldn’t buy one yet until there is a definitive answer.

Calm down, folks. Tesla has already stated that they would provide a key fob free of charge to current owners:

Email from Tesla today....

“Thank you for contacting Tesla! The Model 3 key fob is being offered on the store for $150.00 as an alternate option to the phone key and key card. The key fob is not being offered free of charge at this time as it is optional and not a feature that comes with the vehicle.
I hope this helps answer your question!”
