Just got fsd 10.69 took it out for it's first drive from my house to the gym. About 10 miles at night. Was not good. The car missed every left turn bad and almost caused an accident twice on those turns. Had to take over 3 times. Made a right turn very aggressive too. It was only my first time using it so I'll hold judgment right now but was not a good first impression at all. Basically the car failed every turn and if the car was a driver student it would have failed by a long margin. So glad I did not buy fsd outright but rather got the subscription. Trust me this is the way to go

Those of you that live in the northeast. Are you using the adhesive front plate holder or something like a snap plate?
I am going with the Evannex front plate mount. Not obscenely expensive at around $70 and made of aluminum alloy.

Are you running around in the suburbs with multi-lane intersections? I'm seeing rubbish behavior as well, and all my driving is that sort. In contrast, all the great drives that YouTubers are getting seem to involve two lane roads. The lane selection stuff just doesn't seem to handle anything larger.

Note that I started out thinking that the car was largely crazy, but as time has gone by I've gotten used to its idiosyncrasies and understand more of what it can and can't do as well as what things it does in odd ways. As you suggest, it's a bit like getting used to a bad teen driver and knowing that it's probably not going to get into an accident, but it's a stressful way to travel. I worry about what this bellend driving is doing to my tires.

Yes this was in suburbs. On two lane straight aways the car is good. But any sharp turn or complicated intersection it starts to stutter. Nothing to crazy just need to get into left turn lane to turn type of thing. But the car keeps stuttering and hesitating and then just runs thru the turn. As you can imagine in NY people are not going to deal with this and they will try to jump around the car. On the way home it was a little better as traffic was a little lighter, even caught someone who tried to left turn from a no turn lane. The right turns are also stressful as it takes them so tight I'm sure its gonna clip the curve and give the rims road rash. I got used to (and love) the autopark, summon, and autolane change so for me thats worth the 200$ price of admission. The FSD I will try for a bit so I can help move the tech forward but to anyone still on the fence it is not worth 15k trust me trust me trust me on that. We'll see what V11 has to offer when it comes out. Overall though the car is a great vehicle and I find myself just driving it without the bells and whistles since its great to drive.

So I'll write an update on my post yesterday. Today I tasked the car to drive home from my job. This involved navigating a school district during dismissal, entering and exiting the highway and navigating side streets and main streets home. The car did a great job overall. The only thing was sometimes it would come to a right on red turn or a stop sign and linger a bit. In those cases I gave a little tap on the gas to say its ok and the car would instantly respond and go on its way. I also saw a few cops at intersections patrolling and had no issues. Overall way better than my first impressions yesterday. I'll say this though to anyone thinking of buying. It is a gimmick right now and you are very much a beta tester. You need to pay attention and observe every movement. This is why I would recommend the subscription over the one time payment. That way if you don't want to be a tester anymore you can end the subscirption. It is also economical this way. At 200/month it will take 75 months or 6.25 years to break even. You may not even have the car anymore by then as you will have upgraded. From delivery to accptance into the beta it took me 2.5 months with a score of ~90 and they say the threshold may be even lower. So don't worry about having to wait a while for access.

Absolutely.

I just downloaded 69.3.1 and went for a drive. As I was going through it I was thinking "What's the use case for FSD in its current form?" The only use case is that of beta testing the software. You have to be a careful and competent driver who watches over everything the software does, so it's not an aid to the driver yet. But I can't really complain because they took away the complaint button. They seem to enable the button for select users (such as prominent YouTubers).

In the new version flashing yellow turn signals are treated like stop signs. It entirely missed one light going green (probably sun angle problems). I get regular phantom slowdowns and the car goes to the outside of the lane on sharper curves (unnerving with oncoming traffic that is trying to stay to the inside of their lane on the same curve). Lane selection remains terrible, including changing lanes away from a coming turn. It still tends to change lanes through intersections for some reason. I did have one really nice right turn where it was about as comfortable as one my own turns. I had a number of disengagements, including one where I had roughly a 90 degree bend in a two lane road and it slowed and tried but ended up trying to go straight. FSD definitely doesn't do well on turns in a road that also go uphill. It'll phantom brake those. For my driving, 3.1 is probably a bit of a regression over 2.4.

I used to think that Tesla had finally turned the corner with FSD by going to occupancy networks, but I think they're more interested in training AI and less in making FSD work. I think they're going to have to go through another leadership change on the AI team and restructure the software.

My apologies to those uninterested in FSD stuff.

Agree 100%. It won't be ready for prime time anytime soon. Don't waste your money like I did.

Me too! So excited!!! Enjoy yours!

This is useful info. Especially since fsd doesn’t carry over to a new car I have a hard time ever justifying a one time fee.

Got back from pickup, process was great with one exception. Car wasn't onsite and took ~35 minutes to arrive. When car arrived, was allowed to inspect inside and out prior to final payment (check). One tiny paint issue (extremely small, way smaller than a penny), service scheduled.
Will do a more thorough inspection inside the garage in a little bit to ensure nothing was missed before the 24 hour period is up.

Picked up a flawless Model 3 yesterday at the Owings Mills service center/store. The delivery specialist opened up the vehicle so I could inspect it as long as I wanted before paying. I spent about 1 hour looking for anything wrong and found absolutely nothing except a tiny smudge on a fog light, which a cloth and some cleaner took care of. I was a little shocked at the quality. It does appear somebody had slightly adjusted the the frunk lid based on a little paint missing from the mounting bolts. Glad they took care of it prior to me getting there. More inspecting today hasn't revealed anything either although I did notice the left side of the frunk lid is about 1/2mm higher than the right side. :D Needed a credit card to find this.

I drove about 100 miles yesterday before buying the Boost today. OMG, what a difference. It's a different car with far more pedal responsiveness. This is the kind of thing ICE tuners dream about and spend a fortune on. I'm keeping it.

These 2023s are soooo much better built than my old 2018.
- Road noise is significantly reduced, the doors are more substantial, and all the pieces just seem to fit together better.
- The matrix headlights are interesting. The high beams project a boxy, grid-like pattern.
- The stereo sounds as good as the 2018. The missing center speaker doesn't appear to affect the audio quality.
- I love the improved rubber seal on the trunk opening. Rain rolls into the trunk off the glass on my old 3, but this certainly won't happen with the new one.
- The multi-coat Red looks sooooo good.
- The aero wheels (without the covers on) are the best looking wheels offered on the 3.
- The powered trunk is a nice upgrade.
- Having to use the glovebox USB port to plug in controllers is stupid. I have 4 ports in the center console that are pretty much worthless unless you need them to charge a 2017 relic cell phone.
- I have had a couple brief messages about pillar cameras being blocked. Not sure if this is an issue.
- The new magnetic visor clips are slick.
- The heated steering wheel is crazy fast heating up.

As with most of the recent deliveries, my vehicle included:
- Ryzen processor
- Matrix headlights
- Michelin Primacy tires
- No USS
- New cameras

anyone know if Tesla reimburses for cost of transportation to take delivery? I had to rent a car to go pick it up ( ~300 miles away) it’s not a deal breaker for me but just curious, as the cost is not insignificant.
I'm sorry you have to go through so much just to pick up a car, but Tesla doesn't reimburse customer costs. I can't imagine a business that would.
