I'd agree; even for a tech geek like me, it was very rare to use the voice commands in my last 3 cars that were capable of handling them.

Yup, but wasn't there talk of class leading voice controls? "Car turn the radio volume up to 11"

All the safety equipment is wonderful, but if you don't drive safely, speed, text, use the phone, drink ... THAT is what males it unsafe.

Totally in agreement. Given the manner in which some people drive, I am surprised (and relieved) that the number of accidents are low relative to the reckless driving habits I see every day.

Let's hope it's more of bump tomorrow. Did the other car makers see this coming? Quite a big accomplishment since the other guys haven't hit this target yet and I'm sure they are trying.

This was expected but still big news. Glad they hit the mark they said they were going to all along. I hope they keep delivering on promises like this.

I'm not so sure it's clear from what Elon wrote that he means 5 stars in every category...if he phrased it carefully, it could mean the overall score is a max 5 stars...but either way, great news.

Yeah, I feel as if he would have clearly made that distinction had they achieved 5-star rating in all categories. Still good to hear they hit 5-star overall rating.

Wonder what that means for shipping car #1? I'd guess the dates in general won't really move up as they gear up the production line, but I wouldn't be shocked if the first deliverable car could be produced fairly soon.

From a risk management standpoint, yes. Imagine someone gets injured while test driving. Even if it was the drivers error, Tesla might be held responsible for injury without having received independent crash testing.

Yes, lawyers would have a field day if someone was injured driving a car that hadn't been crash-tested.

It's a good bet that it's already been completed. They've already posted a picture with the chassis:

I'd bet the car is already finished, or at least nearly finished.

Also the blog said that the first cars will be delivered at an invitation-only event on June 22.
