Model S December Production email

Not really, especially after reading how many emails were sent out. My initial reaction to the email was they were trying to cram in as many deliveries as possible before the end of the year by selecting owners who didn't need financing or require trade-ins. Also given the logistics of delivery and the holiday season, I had assumed the were primarily targeting people who would take factory delivery. That is obviously not the case. So, while I'm hopeful of a December/January delivery. I won't be too upset as long as I receive the car within my original Feb/Mar delivery window, because I've already planned a road trip for April. :)

The biggest advantage of a December delivery is that I will get back hours of time that would have otherwise been spent checking for updates on the TMC delivery threads in Jan/Feb/Mar. ;)

+1. But I hate to tell you--I got my S on October 18th and I'm still here enjoying this whole wonderful parade!

P6300 and something here. Got the email yesterday, replied "Yes!" within an hour. Checked today around 2:30p PST and found the delivery button in MyTesla. Dec 15-31 delivery estimate.

Same config as Scorch - Performance 85, black, black, gray 21", carbon trim, pano roof.

After receiving the "December Delivery is Available" email I immediately replied with "Yes, 2012 please." Just now when I logged into "My Tesla" the DELIVERY button lit up for me and I filled out my info. The estimate says Dec 21 to Jan 4.

I guess next step is a VIN and a call from my delivery specialist? Exciting times.

Got my delivery button today. response from the site was so slow I thought my button was broken. I eventually got to the end. they gave me a delivery window between Dec 19th and Jan 2nd. Hope mine gets on the right boat, given jkams experience.

All I need now is a VIN so I can get a loan, insurance, etc...

I've got the same question, bonehead...

LOL! I read your response and was like "wow, that's harsh!" Then I saw the handle of the person you replied to is, indeed, "bonehead." ;-) Sorry, it's been a long week. . . .

I missed an 8 PM EST call from Tesla! Andy left voicemail, but I didn't hear the message till after clicking the beautiful "delivery" button...should've clicked at 7:30 but I really had to split. Anyway, deliver timeframe for me is December 15th - 31st. Brown, non-perf, pano roof, air, textile/piano black, tech, parcel, twin chargers, HPWC, stock wheels/sound. #8061. OMFG EXCITED!

I called Andy back at 11:30 PM EST and it said he was in a meeting! Huh. Well, I left voicemail saying "uh...you're probably gone for the day but if you're there, you can call me any time about this ;-) but I did fill out the delivery survey." I bet the call (which was along the lines of "hey wanted to know if you wanted an earlier delivery") was just a follow-up to the e-mail. Odd (I'd clicked yes)...I wonder how long that red delivery button was on the site, waiting for me. Maybe it got impatient? ;-)

My to-do list is not big: Clear out garage, measure opening precisely and compare to S full/driver-mirror-folded/both-folded measurements, check with better half to see how much I can use for downpayment, fill out loan app at credit union (though if they need VIN, I'll have to wait), and call my insurance company! Progressive doesn't have Tesla in their list, so I'd rather not pick "other," plus I don't know the date so I don't want my insurance changing prematurely.

Ramble Ramble...very excited!

Yeh, I wouldn't be hoping for it either in your position.

The email spam could be a good way to discover dead addresses too. But the odds, while really low, could be that 95% of the people before you would say that 2013 is better for them.
Well, I would assume they must have gotten a significant number of requests to defer in order to go through the trouble of sending out the e-mail.

That's odd, Progressive was able to insure my dad's Model S... maybe a state by state thing?

Whooo hoo! DS Jason called me to talk about delivery. Of course, I was on a plane to France at the time, but he sent me a very nice email telling me what I can expect and verifying I wanted to move forward. I responded with a lot of text that basically means "hell yeah!".

This will be a nice Christmas present for me, I think.

BTW, the relevant section of the email that impacts taxes is:

[Y]our order is considered complete once your vehicle leaves our property. This will allow you to take advantage of any 2012 tax incentives that you qualify for, even though your car may not physically arrive until early January.

Heh, as long as they don't try to deliver at the end of January, when I'm out of town. . . .

What email was that? All I got were two buttons.
